There are different types of HID available like 6000K, 8000K, 10000K, Can anyone please let me know which is street legal? or it is legal to use HID on vehicle.

By the way IS blue lights are BETTER for HIGHWAYS.pl let me know. The relay/cutout MINDA. is that OK..TIA
Dont even think of 130/100, the first thing they do is make your clear lens go for a toss. 100/90 Phillips blue vision should be an excellent choice for extensive highway driving and the reach and brightness is superb.

For that matter, any blue colored lights have better reach and brightness than yellow lights, thats been my experience. you check the website link given in this thread of a UK website from where you can order a genuine pair of bulbs.

I am planning to upgrade stock light to 130/100 w white light for my SX4. Does it spoils the clear headlamp though it has a cap over the bulb ? which bulb should I go for ?

Chances are surely there for the clear lens to get damaged. Couple of my friends had these bulbs and their lens have gone for a toss. one is a viva crdi and another is an indigo.

Then I will stick with 100/90 or wait for Philips x-treme 60/55.

As I said in my previous post, I upgraded to 100/90 Philips Rally and found it good.

Where you got them fitted from? I saw every one stocking too many of these "german made" rally bulbs for 150Rs. I chickened out as i felt all of them to be fake...

You have commented that even 100/90 is not effective, that is the reason I thought of going to more wattage. Also I don't want Philips Rally because it produces yellow light. I need white light as Bluish bulb will blew very often.

Welcome to Jagan Lamps Ltd., Website address for "Jagan" Lamps which are MGP for Maruti SX4, wonder how good are they ? I,myself, am facing the poor headlight issue and have reported to Maruti, lets see what answer they come up with. It's really disappointing to see them cost cutting on such a vital, important component.

I upgraded the bulbs on my verna to Philips Rally 100/90. Thanks to ZAK for helping me with deciding the bulbs and routing me to Emperor. The visibility has increased and am quite satisfied.

Question: Is a ceramic bulb holder necessary for 100/90?

ceramic bulb holder is necessary if the existing one is plastic type. no harm in changing even if you use 50/60w bulbs. the heat generated by 90/100 bulb melts the plastic holder and the day you have a fused bulb you will realize that the bulb is stuck to the holder and the rubber grommet on it and then the only option is to cut and throw all these.
my experience

Ok heres my query,
I have had HID installed in my Skoda 2.5 yrs back when i got the car. That time only Taiwanese kits were available so went with it. They gave me a lot of problems, to put simply, they never worked properly. My dealer tried all sorts of things, changed the kit too but nothing helped.
Later on when P4 kits were available, i went with these, they worked somewhat better than the earlier ones but the same problems are still there.
Thing is my Headlamps are totally blackened and its scary to drive at night. I am sure the first Taiwanese kit i installed, did this damage.

Now i have arrived at a conclusion that come what may, HIDs are not going to work in my Skoda so i have decided to remove the kit, change the Headlamp assembly and put normal H4 Halogens and attain some peace of mind.

Now since i spent nearly 25-30k on this whole HID thing, i cant keep that kit at home and keep looking at it.
So what i am planning to do is, install it in the Swift.
So my basic questions are -
1] Will i again face the blackening of reflectors issue ?
2] Will i face the same problems like one of the HIDs conking off abruptly, Low Beam works on one, High Beam works on one etc.. ?
3] If at all i go ahead with the fitment, any particular instructions, i need to give to my dealer to avoid headaches ?

Kindly help me out guys, i am in no mood to screw up my new swift's reflectors and end up with headlights which dont work properly.

Any kind of advice, suggestion is appreciated.

Amey
