I'd reccomend Osram Cool Blue / Osram Silverstar bulbs.
They are the stock watt rating, no need for a Cut-out.

I have used Philips Blue Vision 90/100 before switching to the Osrams, and trust me, the Osrams are way better than Philips.

The Osram Cool Blue Bulbs retail at ~ 260 buks a bulb in Pune.

Even swale84 is using Osrams in his zen and is very happy!

Heat transmits through other mediums than air too!! So, a sealed enclosure doesn't mean no heat goes outside.

A moving car =more air flow=better heat dissipation. Isn't it simple?

PS: I am not claiming I saved my reflectors because I switched off my headlights. I do so because I am paranoid that the reflectors would get burnt someday

The Osram bulbs are pretty good i know but it wont work wonders in a zen.
Infact it will turn into nightmare during a highway drive.
Simple 90/100W halogens is the best bet for Zen.

He does a lot of frequent Highway driving, Mumbai - Pune.

I've emailed him, lets wait for his first hand opinion.

Actually i cant make out from the pic if the glass is broken or not but if it really is then the HID bulb wont work. The HID bulbs unlike the normal bulbs dont have a filament. they work by burning xenon gas. so if the glass is broken the gas is gone.

but if you see there is an outer layer and an inner layer. only the outer layer is broken. the inner layer is still intact. i think that bulge would have the xenon gas. anyway ive contacted the people who shipped it to me. now hopefully theyll replace it.

I went through the same confusion around 4 months ago and had almost decided to go for the Philips Crystal / Diamond vision for my Zen. I did some asking around and was given to understand that the 'white' lights may look really cool to everyone else, but don't necessarily give better visibility, particularly in the case of non clear lens type headlamps.

Shrivz recommended the Osram cool blue's for my car and off we went to an Osram dealer to get them! The bulbs cost approximately 280 /- each and were a direct replacement since they have the same Wattage rating as the stock bulbs.

The difference in visibility was immediately perceivable, not only by me but by friends with whom I drove to Goa the next week as well. The beam colour is closer to white than the stock bulbs, but no the 'pure white' seen on the Philips bulbs. I don;t know if this is due to the type of headlamps I have or the nature of the bulbs themselves. The bulbs on Shriv's Baleno seem whiter, though I think he's also got blue pilot lights in the headlamp assembly.

Night time highway driving (which I do at least once a week) has definitely become less of a strain thanks to the better visibility these bulbs provide. As you can tell, I'm very happy with my choice and certainly recommend them as the ideal upgrade to the stock bulbs, especially since they're a fraction of the cost of the Philips bulbs.

I am planning upgrade headlamp bulbs on my Fiesta.

I am just not able to figure out how to take off the bulbs. I went through the manual & they give instructions as if its very easy to access the electrical connections, the rubber cover, the clip holder & then finally the bulb holder. They also state that this is best done by a Ford service guy.
I mean...they provide spares incase of emergency yet they make it so hard to access the bulbs.

I got upto taking of the rubber cover with the help of handy small mirror but beyond that is scaring me. I looked all over the internet for a week & all I get is that this is general practise by Ford to rip off by going to a Ford service center.

There have been cases where people have gone to great extents to give out line by line instructions. This is what I followed to get this far on this car since most of the instructions were for other Ford builds.

Does someone here have experience with the Fiesta?

dont be scared, once you remove the rubber cover, try to figure out the bulb holder clip as well as the connector, the rubber cover is the most difficult step and ensure its secured back proper or water seepage will happen

or take it to nearest reputed auto electrician and they will help you out

Need advice on updating my front lights.
Mercedes E220 '96, bulbs as per manual are:
Main and dipped beam - H4 60/55w
Fog Lamp - H3 55w

What would be the best upgrade for a 'brighter / more powerful light'?

What brand of bulbs?

What brand of relays are the best if required?

Up to a point, cost is not an issue (can't afford to go to Xenons though)

Yesterday, I tried getting once again to replace the headlamp bulbs myself on the Fiesta.
I could remove the spring clip without much difficulty & take off the bulb holder but putting the spring clip back is such a pain. I hurt my fingers trying to compress the clip.
All this I just practised on the H1 high beam. My intention is to replace the H7 bulb with the new Philip Extreme H7 that I recently purchased over the internet.
The H7 is not accessible easily & so I think its next to impossible for me to put back the clip in place for this one.

I have reconciled to taking this to a light guy.

Can anyone guide me to a place who does this in Hyderabad?
