Oh! No, I had not seen this thread - too busy since last Friday.

OK, so I must have seen this BEFORE the monstrosity landed up in God's own country!!! I saw it in Erode close to midnight on Jul 23 - must have been on its way southwards.

My colleague and I had reached our hotel just then, and were out in search of dinner at 1130PM. We were staying at the Hotel Le Jardin (fancy name for a hotel in Erode) and this was in the parking lot of the hotel next door (Liv-inn) where we were told that the restaurant would be open. No luck, but then I saw this humongous red thing and my jaw almost dropped to the floor. Finally, hunger pangs got the better of our curiosity and we headed out to the Erode Bus Stand to get some paper-dosa & paratha at the 24-hour joint there.

Well, I must say, this would be getting more stares than the illuminated sign-boards mounted behind autos and tempos.

This is exactly at the right place. I have seen many such Fiats before. But people just dont seem to get it that such a high waistline never makes a roadster evenif you chop off the roof.

Moreover the rear dooors are still there, God knows where is this guy getting the shell rigidity from. Even his driving position is pretty cramped, WhenI am driving our 1100d, the B-pillar is almost beside my head. Leaving a little legroom for the rear passengers (but who cares).

Stating again, Chopping off the roof, does not make a roadster!!! A roadster is designed as such.

*** r u talking about, its just a fiat that he felt like taking the top off. He didnt go for a "roadster" look just for a convertible, maybe he has a detachable hard top that he puts on in the monsoons, you never know. BTW taking the roof off, wouldnt that make it less cramped. Also many convertables have back doors.

Vid, the tall guy is just getting a drive. The owner is an old white guy, and I think he's sitting next to the tall guy. This car is at Sunny's quite often.

It's a ladder frame, na? Don't need too much shell rigidity unless they restart the Group A Fiat class at Sholavaram.

Fox, that Scorp is pretty well finished. Seen it a coupla times myself.

No Monocoque with front sub-frame. Rigidity will be required to prevent body flexing even under daily use. If you look at the C pillar and the B pillar internals you will know that they all meet up at the roof cap (with a folded plate internal structure). Within short time you will find the boot and the front wing sagging.

Oh crap, I always assumed it was a ladder frame with a shell on top. Yes, if it's monocoque then obviously your chassis will flex like mad.

its the same in my car as well. the driver's seat is pushed all the way back leaving no leg room for the rear passenger.

@ 1100D - it looks like a S1 (but i could be wrong).

the owner should be hanged for doing this to the padmini. thank god i havent come across such a waste in Kolkata.

There is a similar sample in Kolkata. Aquamarine color, from Patuli. The front end has the Old Qualis headlight and grille.

@planet, this car comes to Ajit Jasu's garage (Ajit-da's son said to have "created" the masterpeice).

If you recall there is also another Cielo with Sonata mask at his garage.
