no difference at all. Both are single (low beam) xenon lamps.

The skoda has xenon headlamps? Is is something new? We have an Octavia (petrol version) and I know it has projector headlamps, but I am pretty sure that there is a halogen bulb behind that projector lens, and no ballasts with zenon bulbs. The one we have is about 2 years old so do the new ones come with zenons behind the peojectors?

I upgraded the headlamps on our accord to xenons, with ballasts etc and I must say, it is definately worth it. They light up the road better, and in general, when you see a car with zenon's comming down the road, you know its something different, the light is not blinding. Now the 'fake' white bulbs on the other hand, are displeasing to the eye and are blinding. So it depends on what you want I guess. Do you want your car to look sexy going down the road, or do you want people getting mad or annoyed by the displeasing blinding light. Just a thought...

But, xenons are definately expensive and I would personally spend the money on a performance mod. In my case, my brother wanted zenon's on his accord so I had to get it done. Otherwise, I would just stick to factory halogen bulbs and not bother with hyper white bulbs.

That's pretty interesting, Skoda RS with stock xenon's. I bet it looks nice.

I got thexenon kit down from the states, I cannot recall the brand but I know it was one of the better ones, I have to look at the box and check. Our Accord is the 7th generation model, and obviously since there are no D2S xenon kits out there (as factory headlights are not projector style), the one I got was the D2R (reflector) xenons which fitted perfectly, even the ballasts. The install is relatively simple, you have to simply pull of the front bumper, headlight housing, replace the stock bulbs with the xenons, and securely mount the ballasts in the area behind/below the headlamps. If you are doing it yourself, make sure you get the polarity right, from the ballasts to the bulbs, else... yikes you dont wanna know!

The install on our accord was done by a pretty experienced car tuner, I dont know what his shop is called but he is in colaba, in 2nd pasta lane. His name is Gautam I think? Anyway it was done about a year back and it still looks slick, so he did a great job. Me and some buddies at work did a 'group buy' on the xenon kit so we got a great deal, if I am not mistaken, $300 shipped which is approx Rs 13,200 for one of the best aftermarket xenon kits back then, and I am sure they still are.

You plan on doing this to your accord? If so, go for it man. Looks neat

I got an H4 Xenon kit ("p4 HID Xenon", 6000K-cool daylight) fitted to my Baleno at the Autocar exhibition at Nehru Centre last Saturday. The lighting is amazing and sharply focused on the road. One drive along the Eastern Express Highway at night with innumerable MMRDA "death-pits" has convinced me that this is the right safety device for today's Indian roads.

@revtech: Xenon lamps come in different colour temperature ratings- ranging from 4800K, 6000K, 6500K, 8000K & beyond. Whereas 4800K is yellowish in output, 6000K is cool daylight colour and represents the "right" option to identify objects on road according to their natural colours. Beyond 6000K, the output drifts to bluish shades with 12000K becoming almost purple.

Hey Idnani,

Gautam of Car Modernize is not even close to a tuner. He is into body mods and customization for body kits. He gets the engines tuned & modded elsewhere.

Well I guess you are right. Thats the one - Car Modernize. I really dont know the details of where he gets his work done etc, and its probably incorrect to call him a 'tuner' but my point was that he did the install of the HID's on my accord, and it was done neatly and well, that was my point. In addition, its a very easy install as I mentioned so I am not promoting his shop or anything of that sort. I believe someone asked where I got it done, so there was my answer. Cheers!

The RS and the L&K version of Octi come with Xenon HIDs as standard equipment.

I dont think those are actual Xenon HID lamps. They must be normal Halogen lamps filled with Xenoon gas. Xenon lamps do not have a filament.

Hey v12, What makes you suspect? The lamps (did I mention it has a filament?), box and brochure look genuine xenon at least to me... It was fitted by a Thai engineer sporting his company logo and their web site http://www.p4xenon.com.

Do let me know (and others) what your insight is.
