What is the FE of the car now? when u rip it and when u drive as a daily car like a proper drive without ripping it.?
Hi,

You will almost very rarely see me there as my place is actually near Cuffe Parade. Have only driven approx 100kms so far. Wait for me to return from lonavala to post any FE figures.

Default Bolt-on rear discs

Viper bhai

Enjoyed reading the journey from Vtec to VIPER PERFORMANCE.. inspirational for armchair (read 'LOW budget') mod car owners like me

Wanted to ask you, how much would a set of bolt-on ones cost ? I read someone asking you the same question, but I guess I may have missed the reply.. And how much for the cost of install ? You did say though that it's pretty much a bolt-on operation, but still asking.. my ride's a Baleno, and I'm beginning to think along getting one. Not sure if I can it done in Delhi, but wanted an idea of the money involved, before even heading out in that direction.. thanks !

^^Im not sure if there are bolt-on rear disc brake kits for the Baleno.
But, if available,it should cost around 25-30k.Installation extra.

You do get bolt-ons. The GTX hatch came with rear discs. You just have to source those and swap them.

Default Driving Impressions on Lonavala trip

Hi Guys,

Just got back from Lonavala yesterday after taking my car on its first ever drive after the engine swap. Had a full load in the car with 3 adults and 3 children on board. Made a full tank of gas and headed on for the holiday.

The Swap:

Cant explain how well the swap has turned out. Only 2 things give away the fact that this is not a stock car The oooodles of torque and the sound of the engine. I had to run in the new clutch and so did not do any power launches or high rev gear shifts and was actually cruising. Very rarely did I cross 4k RPM. I could slot the car in 3rd form as low as 800/900 Rpm and effortlessly pull away far stronger than I could in my old engine in 2nd gear at 3k RPM. Engine has absolutely no vibrations, no kind of heating issues with the temp needle hovering just below the halfway mark. Currently running on water and regular oil.

Don't know about speeds reached as the speedo does not work in the original cluster but if someone here knows the gearing ratios was doing approx 3.5k - 4k in 5th gear on the expressway. Total trip would be approx 250-260kms(again cant be exact as odometer also does not work in old cluster) and the fuel tank shows somewhere between half and 3/4th mark so FE looks good.

The short shifter is definitely going to be thrown out today and replaced with the original shift rod as that was a bother.

To Sum it all up I have got what I always wanted a perfect car. a daily driver which is fast enough to make bigger engined cars eat dust with a excellent suspension package that makes the car feel tight at all speeds and the braking required to make it stop fast enough. The interior is as good as stock and comfortable enough as needed.

Things to do to make the ride a bit more perfect.

1> Add some more sound insulation on the flooring/firewall to isolate engine sound coming into the passenger compartment. The induction sound of the filter is a bit too loud for my liking.
2> Soften the exhaust a bit even if it means compromising on power.
3> Fit new instrument cluster
4> Change oil to Mobil 1 and add coolant
5> Replace short shifter with OE rod.

Whew thats a lot of writing. Am not much of a writer so If you you guys have any specific questions feel free to ask them. Will put up engine specs with details in a few days after I finalize what will finally go in. No pics/videos were taken.

nice report. your car does have loads of torque. its like diesel torque.. i guess 3.5k rpm in 5th must have been around 120kmph? youll probably find out in a few days though.
