Hi,

The Phantom Grip cost me US 280/-shipped to Mumbai, India compared to Carbonetics Clutch Type LSD or Quaife @ approx US1600/-+ shipping. This does the job very well and is definitely going to be way better than driving a car without any assist, what say Works really well with the CC Carbon Kevlar Stage 2 clutch that I am using.

The basic idea is to keep the car as streetable as possible and still put up a good show at drags or answer a challenge from a larger engined car.

@HPP- Are u aware if these will work as a limited diff only under positive load (acceleration) or no load/overrun (coasting/deacceleration)?

Viper

For the purpose, the Phantom Grip does it's job fairly well. The power levels it can handle are pretty good also, I would think it would do very well for the Indian market.

Hmm. Ok. Thanks for the clarification. So this works as a 2-way LSD, always locked irrespective of throttle position. Don't know to what extent Phantom Grip works, but a regular 2-way LSD is an overkill for FWD cars- not allowing the car to turn in easily even while lift-off, since the driveshaft remains locked. A 1-way LSD works best with FWDs, minimising traction loss with acceleration while making for easy turn-in possible on lift-off.

However, the killer price makes it an absolute VFM kit , keeping our power outputs in mind.

I used to think LSD's were useful in rear wheel drive cars, and that too for drifting, sending power to both wheels. What is the benefit in a FWD car? Initial pick up would I guess be slightly better, with torque steer cancelled out. Is that right? Anything else?

It will be most beneficial on a FWD when out on a track, as during hard cornering- the inside wheel tends to spin as it has less distance to travel than the outside wheel. A LSD will definitely help in this case, the driver can make a full-throttle exit rather than modulating the throttle to keep wheelspin and the corresponding understeer in control.

Default Update - Vtec working now

Hi Guys,

Finally got the Vtec wiring sorted out and it is now up and functional. there is a world of a difference in the performance of the car now. Just waiting for the ECU to come back from Karthik so that I can finish fine tuning the same and finally enjoy the turbo to its max.

Very nicely done mods Jiggy. I really liked the engine bay after the swap, neat and tidy.
Unfortuntely i couldnt make it to Speedrun, i would have loved to see that beast.
Now that all is sorted out, i really feel you should take some detailed snaps of the car, outside, engine bay, etc etc...
I guess she deserves it, dont you think so ?

Congrats !

Hi Amey,

Thanks for the compliments. Engine dress up kit comprising of Exhaust Wraps, Heat Shield Sleeves for all hoses & tubes coming up soon all in the same red as the valve cover. pic below. The entire plumbing will be covered in the red exhaust wrap to keep temperatures down.

Car will be going in for paint touch up and polishing this weekend after which will get the snaps clicked.

Default Suggestions for Hood Scoop Design

Hi guys,

As much as I would like to keep the car stock looking I am forced to incorporate a scoop in the hood as engine bay temperatures are really high after a spirited run. I will need to install a air extractor kind of scoop so that the hot air which is trapped inside can escape thereby reducing the engine bay temperature.

Anybody with any other suggestions to solve that problem please let them flow. Also would appreciate if someone could photoshop a hood scoop with diff designs to see what suits the car the most. I personally like the Subaru styled scoop.

hmm why dont you give discreet exits at fenders, to help the hot air exit faster from the bay?
