![]() From what I could infer from the article, it isn't a B16. A quote here: "The combination we ran consists of the sleeved 85.0mm block, with the lightweight 5.531" rods, 92.0mm crank, our mid-dome Roller-Wave pistons, the welded GSR head, our Bump-Stix intake cam, a 1997 ITR exhaust cam, our valvetrain components, one of the fabricated manifolds, a 65mm Edelbrock throttle body, one of John's Hytech big-tube headers, stock GSR distributor, and Hondata S200 for tuning. " It is a Frankenstein build, a B18 Integra GSR head mated to what was originally meant to be a DART-built block but due to water leakage was switched to a sleeved 85mm block (which I am supposing is a OE B18 piece) Amazing build nevertheless, the attention to detail was paranoid, especially about the coolant passages and how painstakingly he wanted to convert the cable clutch to a hydraulic unit. Awesome. P.S. borexstroke is 81.0×77.4 mm across the B16 range. edit: @ viper: Was curious to know if you got the standalone back from RDKarthik...

As you have heard, a T/Ced or a Vtec is more difficult to tune than a Baleno. So also a Baleno might be more difficult for some to tune that a Maruti 800 and so on. The approach remains the same. The expertise varies.

Well here Honda's do have the upper hand in parts availability worldwide and the rev potential from the company, but only for the OHC.

| Hey Jiggy what's the latest on the ride? How's the VTEC control? Do you feel any significant difference? What else you got planned for the near future? And finally how is that pseudo LSD you got? Review

Got some minor stuff done in the past month such as 1> Replaced front seats with Recaro imitations.(lightened car by about 50 kgs) 2> Replaced steering wheel with a 14" diameter wheel to overcome the problem of speedo console vision getting blocked by the smaller wheel. 3> Changed Engine mounts to custom stiffened mounts(all 3 ) which have made a world of a difference. Car is now much tighter and virtually vibration free. 4> Temporarily removed the Hot Bits coil overs(already sold) and fitted Pedders Springs and custom stiffened shocks. Have ordered another set of fully adjustable coil overs. 5> Vtec not operational as we were unable to make it work with the RD ECU. Waiting for Karthik to come and sort that out.(very upset its been 2 months) 6> The Phantom Grip LSD is performing beautifully and has made a world of a difference wrt to traction. Will be putting up a short term 4000km report very soon since engine was installed and turbo as well. Just returned from Mahabaleshwar where the car went for the first time on such a long trip after the swap and turbo. As far as the future goes well there are a few things which I plan to do pretty soon but will post that a bit later. Viper

Infractions: 0/1 (3) | @Viper: 1question,does the turbo in petrol car remains "ON" all the time,or kicks at a certain rpm, because ive driven the verna diesel turbo,as the turbo shuts after barking the sudden pick-up dies and the car becomes slow, does this same happenes with the petrol cars too?? |

1) There is a lag phase before the turbo spools. This is because the velocity [Force] of exhaust gas is not high enough to spin the fan blades, which in turn spin the Screw fan forcing air into the cylinders. 2) The turbo is spooling, and air is therefore forced into cylinders. Boost is present 3) RPM is now so high that turbo is already spooling at full speed. So you don't feel any further increase in acceleration. It is not that you're faster than NA, It's that you're not faster than when the turbo motor is in it's power band... 4) Verna and the other turbo cars available use tiny little turbos which force air in at low pressure. That's to maintain FE along with a boost in power. Verna uses a VGT which is a Variable Geometry Turbo. Those are small turbos meant to reduce turbo lag [a lighter fan spins with lower force than a heavier one]. However it maintains a larger power band using veins that open up thereby making it a larger turbo [From my understanding] Variable geometry turbocharger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Doc

| @ Viper Dude great to hear that your enjoying the car...Sad however to hear about your ECU problems hope those get sorted out soon. I'm getting done with my exams soon, we need to catch up, and I need to TD your car [With or without VTEC]How much were the Recaros? Are they reclinable or the fixed bucket seats? How come you're not using D2 coilovers? If I remember correctly you were an ardent fan of them right...

Hopefully the ECU issues will be sorted out when Karthik arrives in Mumbai. TD anytime you want buddy. The seats are reclinable and cost me approx 17k with matching upholstery. If you read carefully I said ordered another set obviously D2's man. Getting them made to order as D2 does not make them for the OHC hence will take some time to arrive.@Ramie - I guess DocG has answered your question. Viper
