This is not the same car. The car you are talking about was made by Ajay Gandhi, the owner of Bike Clinic in Kothrud. The silver one is owned by a Bombay based guy named Kaizaad Engineer.

Thats right and I rephrase my statement "the owner is soon planning to plonk a Diesel block into it"

Ishan, you should try to be the official editor for Team-bhp or something . News reaches you faster than anything.

Starline Motors were Fiat dealers and they had come out with the Fiat Safari. they had 2 variants-- the normal and the 6 inches stretch!! they would buy the cars from Premier with the body shell seperate, rebuild the shell into a station wagon and then mount on. were built at their Belgaum bus body building factory. sold 100s of them in the '70s. not a bad job, BUT, youve seen how all the bodies crack at weld joints in b.e.s.t. buses and various bodies built on jeep chasis.
also had a catalogue of it, since one of my customers was using 5 of them at the same time!!! for the 5 brothers.
Not a collectors item though.

Is it the same Starline which currently builds Bus coaches for BEST and other pvt. bus operators?

I had seen something similar done to a Padmini in Goa. I guess Goa is the place to be for chopped roof Fiats!

Modded Padmini in Goa (Pics of weird and wacky mod jobs!)
