The engine is too tall. Even if you modify the bonnet, there is nothing you will be able to do to the sub frame assembly and that is where you will hit a dead end.

I agree with you. Many years ago someone tried to squeeze in an Eicher Mitsubishi Canter engine into a Conti and had major problems with the engine height.
Even if you do manage to fit the engine, there are some things that will need to considered. As mentioned in some earlier posts, the gearbox and differential will have to be changed. The chassis will need to be strengthened, the suspension / springs will have to be stiffened. The brakes, wheels, tyres, all will have to be changed. This looks like quite an expensive and tedious project to me.

Sounds good. If you have height problems, put a nice big power bulge on the hood like the new M3.

I consulted with a mech long time back for an engine swap in my conti the engine we were planning to put in was a Chrysler slant six. But then he told me that a scorpio engine or a safari engine is also a possible fit. He was telling about using the stock gearbox as well telling me it could handle a lot more power. IF you can get a Scorpio gb that would be excellent.

If this goes thru, it would have the potential for a tremendous drift car.

However, doubt whether the engine will be able to fit in terms of height and not cause a ungainly bulge on the hood, however the bulge could be very macho.

Victor carried V8's but then al V engines have each bank being slanted thus reducing vertical height. The actual concept of V comes from packaging limitations that an in-line engine of the same number of cylinders is likely to have.

You will have to change brakes, gearbox & clutch(wont be able to handle the torque the scorpio engine generats) Wont be easy but very much possible and height wont be much of a problem IMHO, because there are other issues before that.

Also you will need quite wide rubber to put the torque down. Yes after its done it will sure have lots of muscle.

Won't drift too well because diesels have a very narrow powerband and don't respond well to downshifts either.
