Default Palio Stile 1.6 Sport - change colour to white

Hi all

Didnít find relevant information despite searching, so starting thread.

I want to buy Red Palio 1.6 - but I prefer the white color.

Does it make sense to buy it red, and then paint it white?

1. Is this really possible?
2. How much cost?
3. Will paint job be good? Will it last?
4. What else should I consider?

The sales guy mentioned that the car ownership papers will say Red, but if I change color to white, I may have problems. Didnít really understand.

Thanks for all your input.

Amit

Amit why dont you ask him to paint it white and get it registered. You may have to shell out some (a lot) extra thousands to get a paint job done at the dealership itself.

Which dealer did you check out?

I certainly know an such an incident at a Maruti showroom in bangalore. One of the well know drag racers got his swift painted in white at the showroom itself before he got it registered. Paid around 35k or something. Next thing MUL itself launched that colour after they were sent pics of this car .

Painting a car the same colour is one thing, but its an entirely different (and most intensive) task to paint a car with a different colour. Why would you want to do that to your brand new car? The dealer would have to strip it down and repaint.

I dont recommend a repaint; atleast not for 2 - 3 years. If there is a chance, get in touch with Fiat India and ask if they will entertain a "special order" white 1.6.

Amit repainting a brand new car is not worth the money and the hassles, nothing like factory finish.

I agree with GTO check with Fiat India for a "special order" white 1.6.

cheers

How does one do this? Do they really respond to customers on a one-to-one basis?

as many of them said, repainting involves stripping the car completely off(seats, engine, plastics, etc.,)...doing this on a brand new car is strictly not advisable amit...adn as hellcat said, you may contact fiat india and ask them if they could take a special order of white colored palio(special orders may cost a little extra but not as costly as the repainting)...best of luck amit...cheers..

Moralfibre: It was Shaman in Prabhadevi, Mumbai. Ajaz, their sales guy got the car over for a test drive. I test drove it on Worli sea face; wanted to check body roll at high speeds. Upto 70 and turns - no problem. But over that, I could feel body roll.

GTO: Where do I start, to request a special color 1.6?

Guys - your information is very helpful. Had no idea it could cost 35K. I've dropped the repaint-new-car idea.

Changing the paint color after registration drags the resale value down considerably. Buyers often associate repainted cars with accident vehicles.

Ask your dealer to do this. Give him some extra $$$; you would have anyways paid for the paint job so better yet to have it factory-painted.

Else write to Fiat INdia directly. Look around the forum, I am sure there were some email addresses floating around.
