There was a mention about an engine swap for the lancer. Can anyone please share the details? (Site having the details, including price)

I tried finding the details in other threads, but I haven't found anything yet.

This Lancer's got its stock engine, just a tad modified.
Look for MIVEC and EVO engine swaps in the Official Modded Lancer thread. I know for a fact that they have been mentioned there.

You could also PM members like Sideways and Harrie who have carried out MIVEC swaps in their Lancers.

Default General Update

It's been a while since I posted any updates about Phoenix.
The bad news is, she's been standing in the garage for close to 3 weeks because of some mechanical issues. These include coolant leakage and steering/suspension issues which have made driving the car inadvisable.
It's been a nightmare trying to get replacement parts from HM here, as they indulged in their usual "ek do din" wala methodology. I outsourced the parts acquiring task to the workshop I am getting my work done in (non-HM).
Finally, after many frustrating days, I called up viper bhai in Mumbai and asked him to get the parts from me. These include:
1. Steering Ball Joint
2. Insulators/mufflers for the front struts
3. Tie rod ends
Also getting Petronas fully synthetic engine oil (I think it's 5W50 grade).

Once these parts arrive, these are the major mechanical tasks that will be done:
1. Fix coolant leakage issue
2. Fix steering/suspension issues
3. Tappet adjustment & ignition timing adjustment
4. Wheel balancing & alignment
5. Tri-phase installation

These *should* take care of the mechanical problems.

This will be followed by a trip to AV Designs, where the exterior work was done. I have a HUGE list of pending tasks for them to finish off.

Some challenging times ahead, but I'm getting a little weary of these constant niggling problems. Time for Phoenix to fly.

PS: I finally got hold of a spare tyre. It's a used Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2. Decent condition, nothing great... will be ok as a spare. And yes, it is unidirectional, but I don't foresee having it fitted for a long time at a stretch... so shouldn't be a problem.

@BUSA, babyboyscad: Let me get through these pending tasks... will post a list after that. There's a lot of cleaning up I have to do on that Excel, and right now I don't have much breathing space!

Razor bahi - What is the latest? Haven't seen the Phoenix in a long while. Plus, my ride and ICE audition are pending.
Is the AVD job done?

Still stuck. I'm getting more and more frustrated with each passing day. The courier from Mumbai with the parts and the oil has not arrived yet. Am hoping it will be here on Monday. Once it arrives, I need to schedule a visit to the workshop (which isn't easy, given the number of cars the guy handles). Once the mechanicals are done, I can at least drive the car.
AVD trip will be sometime after that...

On a side note, I started her up a couple of days back. The sound of the exhaust and the engine brought a huge smile to my face. Got my day off to a great start.

I can't wait to get her back on the road. Been too long, too damn long.

Default Parts are here!

Yep, as the title says, the parts are finally here. Courier wala delayed a bit, but the stuff came in eventually.

Parts rcvd:
- Tie rod end
- Steering rack end
- Front strut insulators

Also received Petronas Syntium 3000 fully synthetic engine oil (5W40). Cost Rs. 2600 for 4 Litres.

I have spoken to the workshop, and should get the work done by this weekend (I know... we've heard that before!! But I have to stay optimistic!).

Work that is scheduled to be carried out (mechanical stuff mainly):
- Fix steering & suspension issues
- Fix coolant leak issue
- Adjust tappets
- Adjust ignition timing
- Triphase installation (maybe)
- Flush engine and put in synthetic engine oil
- Top up all fluids

Once these are done, the car will be mobile, and I can drive her around a bit, before getting the cosmetic/minor (but irritating) issues fixed.
