razor4077-one suggestion-you spending so much on the lancer , why would you compromise on the seats area[you mentioned you going for art leather, why? please put genuine leather].

Cool!
Don't paint before plonking the engine in.
Finish all the mechanical work and finally paint.
And those tyres seem to be an asymmetric kind. So, fit them appropriately.

Why not get Recaro seats? Will go with the sporty look of the car, something like the third pic here

@desigNation: I'm going for a pure leather-art leather combo. The part that comes into contact with the passenger is pure, while the sides and back are art. The quality of the art leather is really good, so I don't think it'll look/feel bad Also, it is much easier to maintain PU than leather.

@nitrous: yep, that's the plan.

@BUSA: Not too inclined towards Recaro seats. IMO the stock Lancer seats are amongst the best out there... sporty and comfortable at the same time. Plus, the insides will be the sophisticated-sporty kind, so I don't want the out and out racing seats.

Art leather may be a right choice here. Easy to clean. Especially in a place like Kolkata where moisture is pretty high most of the year.

Anyway, go by your choice. I'm talking from my past experience and as an old man.

Hope to see your car when I'm there.

Don't want to dampen your spirit, but monsoon is not the best time for painting your vehicle. Think twice.

on that completely. Money saved on the seats can be spent elsewhere

@Rudra da: I hope so too.

@Sudipto: I know that, but unfortunately financial and time constraints are dictating the project timelines
In any case, AV Designs has a heat chamber, so the painting+drying process should be ok. And once it's on the road... I guess all of our cars are at risk.. lol!

Update:
The engine has FINALLY arrived in Kolkata from Mumbai alongwith the FFE and the intake pipe. These will be delivered to the workshop tomorrow morning, so the assembling work can begin in earnest.
The alloy rims are also here... so things are slowly coming together. The only things outstanding are the Pedders shockers... trying to get an update on those.
Tomorrow is a busy day.

Great update, so it braved all the Mumbai floods and the Kolkata floods and all those places flooded in between. Do put up pictures whenever you can. Also try and put up pictures of the packaging also, Viper seemed a bit concerned last time around.

Went and saw the engine and the FFE today! The engine was still in the crate, so just got a top view of it. The FFE was looking good. Liked the ceramic coated headers in particular. Can't wait to see how the overall package performs! The engine should be fitted in a couple of days.

Also picked up the tyres and the rims today. Plati PY509 (M6 replicas) and Michelin PP2 (205/50/15). The spare tyre, which was supposed to be a GY F1 GSD2, had apparently been sold to someone else . I have been promised a spare tyre by Saturday. The tyres fitted on the rims looked really cool!

Not much to report from the body shop, except the mesh work that has been done in the front air dam (looks neat!). The painting will be done once the engine is in place and the major mechanical work is done.

awsome yaar! the headers indeed looks good and so is the expansion chamber. see if you can source the led-brake-light cluster from autopsyche...

cant wait to see it in person. you can actually give me the car to do the initial run'-in.
