Most people tend to hang something from the RVM.. why do some people hang a CD-attached to a string?? ..
I could understand if its a car scent ~ we get those in many different shapes & sizes..mostly leaves/ flowers. but a CD??

Also, some 800/Omni vans have 5-6 different antenna set up on almost every part of the car- boot/ hood/roof..

beats me!!

The hanging CD is meant to work as a reflector - very popular in Kolkata suburbs with rickshaw pullers and auto wallahs.
I saw some stained glass painting (abstract art) on the front left door of a car yesterday. Wasn't such a bad idea I thought.

My pet peeves would be -

reverse horns and indicator beeps
stickers in general especially those US/UK university stickers
bluish LED lights on the number plates and elsewhere including bonnet
underbody neons
loud music systems played at full volume

These are all desperate attention seekers basically.
By the way, I don't find anything wrong with chewing paan whether in Bentley or M-800, after all why should it be the exclusive preserve of those riding buses and second class trams.

1. Number plates lined with blue LEDs
2. Loud music when used as an accessory specially when you can make out that the person or persons in the car hardly understand a word of it and are using it to attract the opposite sex
3. Gaadi ke peeche 'Santa Banta di Gaddi' or some other out of the blue comment, eg. ARMY prominently displayed.
4. Tyres nearly half the width of the car on a small car such as a 800.

But the cake would be taken by the reverse horn shouting out "Attention please, this car is backing up" :-/

- Reversing horns (heard a Himesh Reshamiya number yesterday!)
- HID bulbs in non-HID setups which blind all oncoming traffic (this is probably the most irritating, not to mention dangerous)
- Decals and stickers of most kinds
- Family members' names on the rear window
- Excessively loud horns
- Funky tints (saw a green tint on an Estilo today!)
_ The words "Turbo" and "Intercooler" and "Rally sport" on autos and taxis!!

Not a car accessory - but I find it highly irritating that people display their registration numbers in the local languages. I know this is illegal - but have never seen a cop pull up someone for this offence.

Regarding numberplates, I think local language plates are allowed only if there is atleast one another plate is in english literals. However this rule is clearly flouted in most cases. I remember an article in TOI Bangalore which mentioned that 70% of traffic policemen posted in the city cannot read kannada numerals!

The sticker of a puppy caricature appearing to peek thru the rear tailgate of the car. That poor pup looks like it has Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

The most irritating accessories/habits for me are

1. Driver (in many cases)
2. The "big button" in the centre of steering wheel
3. Reflective sun-films on rear windshields
4. Protruding mud flaps
5. "Unused/folded" orvms
6. Using fog lamps when not required
7. Car fans
8. Keeping most house hold items on the rear parcel shelf
9. Loud exhausts
....

Quite common for commercial vehicles in UK --- where reversing alarms for cars are not used at all*.

I stopped by the accounts department once, and asked them if reversing journals needed alarms saying This journal is reversing.... This journal is reversing...

OK... it was funny at the time

I don't feel that I need to know the religion of the guy who just overtook me, and as for Thank You God! In the back window: excuse me? It was me that just let you cut in to avoid being pulverised by a bus, God had nothing to do with it!

*but ordinary horns that play tunes are far from uncommon, despite being illegal.
