The getz prime does not require a remote boot release. The boot is connected to the central lock. If you open the central lock, the boot is open. This negative is that boot is open whenever the car is not locked.

Yes its true that Getz does not have a hatch release lever next to the driver's seat. However, I am not sure if a 'basic' remote central locking system can overcome this fault (atleast Autocop basic versions cannot)

Guys, any clue whether Xenos central locking system can overcome it? Im planning to get that installed in my Getz.

Too late in the day for this. But I drive a 2005 model getz GL and it does have a boot release lever alongwith the fuel lid opener. I even got a number plate designed to cove the lock at the back 'coz I have this facility.

can you post a pic of this lever?
I am surprised as to why would they put a lever when they have a better system in place?

Default Boot Release on Remote

Team,

If you are referring to the Remote Boot release system for the car then heres the Info. I have got one fitted on my Accent and it works like a piece of cake at the press of the button in the inside of the car or on the remote. Just like the the Optra Boot release.

1. Get a remote boot opening Kit , I got one from US , can send the link across for you if you need. The dealer does Worldwide shipping.

This Kit comes with a Solenoid which activates the boot lever and opens the door

This Kit also comes with a push type switch that can be fitted inside the car if needed to open the boot by pressing the button as well.

2. You will need a central locking system that will output a trigger for the boot release , this central locking system will also have a boot release button on the remote like the Optra remote.

1 and 2 have to wired up so that the boot will open up at the touch of the button on the inside of the car or by the press of the button on the remote.

Hope this info is helpfull enough.

Cheers,

Peter.

@anandtheleo: Why do you need one? Your boot is open as long as the doors(central locking) is open.

Heck! even my 1985 maruti 800 has it!!!!!
I wonder why companies are skimping out on this basic feature these days.

P.S: does the current 800 have this??

Getz boot release is connected to central locking system.
If you unlock the car, you can lift the hatch by pulling a lever under the handle.
So if you want somebody standing outside to open the hatch, you have to unlock the car from the central locking system

In other words its just like a normal door. Unlock car, open door.

Yes technocrat, it's true. I had a 1985 model for 17 good years before trading it in for the getz. And yes, I was mistaken, my getz does not have a remote boot release lever. I was wrong with my earlier post.
