Whoa...A good one. But are you sure type1 (pre 97) Esteems does not have externally operated fuel lid?

i can re-confirm that. NONE of the esteems came with a keyhole for the petrol lid. thats clearly a m-1000.

Thats what we call 'eye for detail'. It also shows the mentality of most M1000 owners to christen their cars as an Esteem by just sticking up the 'Esteem' moniker on the trunk lid.

The title of the thread must be renamed then.

esteem = remote fuel lid
M 1000 = key petrol lid

second give away
esteem = green sun band on the front wind shield
M 1000 = plain tint glass

mayb he should rebuild it to an esteem! find a nice 1.3L engine, upsize the carbs, port polish it, add a FFE and a conical filter and thennnnn we're in business!

Umm...in that case....can you give me some more details of this car....i mean how to differentiate between an esteem and a M1000....because on the car papers its written a esteem...May be the tank lock was changed......can it be esteem in the original papers instead of a m1000
