Prabu, my baleno does 210 (speedo read) in 4th gear at 6750 rpm. Though I do not have stock ratios, but a short ratio gearbox. I really have no clue about the palio. Maybe turbosam will be able to give us more info.

Here is a little data from a small run along the ECR today evening.

I could manage to do only a little above 140km@6000rpm in 4th gear and here is the proof.

I couldnt go any faster because of the rain. I had a pretty much bald tyre and the road was damn slippery. Tommorow I'll try to max out in fourth gear and find out how much my baby will really go in fourth.

And 6200 rpm is all a stock 1.6 palio will go? I doubt it. because mine redlines at 7200.

Could some of you guys who own a 1.6 check out the redline rpm and get back here. I really want to know on how far the stock 1.6 will go and how much will it be exteneded by a good exhaust setup.

So a Palio 1.6 does a Vtec RPM? Actually a GTX doesnot do more then 6200RPM, 16V100BHP's car is a S10 which had different gear ratios.

Well even my car does 7200 rpm and it is not an S10. But I never observed what speeds @ what rpm.

Will the gear ratios effect the rev limit? dont think so dude, correct me if i'm wrong.

what does RPM have to do with gear ratios?

its all about the nature of the engine and the RPM limiter which is programmed into the ECU.

and are you sure about the different gear ratios for the S10 and the 1.6GTX??

Default gear ratios!

s10 and gtx both have same ecu programming same ecu, same top gear ratio ,same diff ratio and should atteain same top speeds in same driving conditions. s10 has better wing-reduces drag from top as well as top halfs of lhs as well as rhs . where as gtx has the one with only the top drag cutter! so minor handling /stability benifits will be aparent in s 10 at 100+kmph and possibily 2 or 6 kmph more at the top end in stationary air!
all the 1596 cc engines hit @7200 rpm though i never tried that in 5th gear.

Holy Sweet! Thats a 100 more than the Vtec redline of 7100 rpm. I never knew the Palio revvs that high, even though I have ripped some raw albeit a long time back.

In this case attaining anything more than a 180kmph @ 6700rpm in the 4th gear with the stock 1.6 gearbox would be impossible.

Then how do u justify the odo snap at 210? Confirmed fake OR can it be done in the 5th gear OR did he do up the gearbox too?

why isnt anyone taking speedo error into consideration?? he could be running on wheels with a higher outer diameter and PRESTO! - instant 3-5% speedo error. thats a 9-10 kmph error at the given speed.

when the palio does 180kmph @ 6700 rpm, given a slight slope and another 500 revvs before the rev limiter kicks in..... i dont see why not.

and all this talk is about a stock palio with the only assumption being over sized wheels. also consider basic mods (K N + FFE w/4X1 header).

i dont see the need for a VW VGT blower to show a 210 on a speedo! this guy is full of himself. and that engine bay pic never made sense from the start. doesnt look like anything i've seen in our modern day cars.

Well my car is running on 15" 205/50 profile tyres and its got all the prelim mods that you have mentioned above and its showing 140@6000 rpm in 4th.

But still a slight slope and may be if he is running on a 16"/17" wheels with higher profile tyres will make a difference, but not quite convincing enough for me to close the case

Did anyone get a chance to have a look at the car??

Yes I saw it last night. It was in my dream and was running a Quad-cam and quad-turbo setup running at 310kmph when my clients Maserati overtook me on the Mum-Pune expressway and I called him up (at the same speed mind you) and asked him his speedo read. He claimed 330kmph.

And time to add a smiley
