True, but I have never been interested in finding out what my car is capable of. I am happy with it and that is all that matter to me. Maybe will let a certain Mr. T.C.Joshi (Jr.) drive my car for the drag. Let's see.

We have not made any concrete plans on when we will leave. Will try to organisze it in such a way that we can all drive down together.

So I hear you took the car up to Leh and back - 9000 km and only an oil chage required

Holy cow! That is amazing. What better testimony to reliability could be than this feat?

Congrats!

Were you at Dadar (Mumbai) in the previous month? I guess I'd seen your car a couple of times.

Vikram, Nice to hear about the Leh trip.

Now lets see if anyone comes with their reliability questions.

Please do share your experience in detail.

Well folks I dont think there is going to be a detailed travelogue (too lazy to sit and write one and tons of overdue work). But some of the details of the trip are as follows.

Total distance travelled - 8630kms
Duration - 1 month (was a vacation drive)
Best mileage - 17.8kmpl (on the RD ECU while cruising at 90 - 100kmph)
Worst mileage - 12.3 (while driving up the Himalayas with 100% AC usage on stock ECU)
Normal cruising speeds - 100 - 120kmph (milage at this speed ranged from 14 - 17 on the RD ECU depending on fuel type used). Best mileage was got with IOC Extra Premium petrol and worst with HP Power.
Average mileage acoss the whole trip - 16.2kmpl
Total fuel consumed - 530 litres
Service work - One scheduled oil change and one puncture repair.

excellent stuff. enjoy. i think your total "boosted" mileage figure is of the order of many 10,000s. excellent FE there.

i didn't understand the stock ECU part. are you switching between ECUs??

On my car both stock as well as RD ECU's are functional. The stock ECU handles upto 3 pounds of boost. Anything more and I have to switch over to the RD ECU. The reason I used the stock ECU on the Himalays was because I did not have the correct version of the tuning software and the car was knocking a little bit on the RD ECU as the version of the RD ECU that I have does not have automatic altitude correction and it had been setup for Bangalore conditions. So on higher altitudes I was using the stock ECU.

The RD ECU was used all the way upto Jammu. After Jammu I switched over to the stock ECU as it automatically handles altitude related air density corrections.

Amazing stuff, really talks a lot about that solid engine under the hood. I need forced induction now.
