Default Car care kits - usefulness

Recently at a gas station I came across couple of people who were giving a demo of car care kit. They claimed that it can remove the scratches from the car and also clean the window / windshield glass with a good shine.
He also claimed that it won’t cause any harm to the paint.
I could see the demo working…however not very sure if such products are really useful. Any suggestion / comments would help me.
Thanks,

More than making a general statement on car care kits, what is important is which brand / product are we talking about. Some of the reputable stuff are pretty darn effective.

Please go through Rudra's article on caring for your car (aesthetics).
