Default Zen Steel Rims

I have '99 Zen with 13" steel rims currently. Couple of them are a little rusted.

I wanted to get new steel rims (4).

Should I get 13" inch ones again? Is Esteem's 13" and Zen's 13" same?

How much do these costs?

Better to get it from M.A.S.S or JC Road/any other place/shop?

Also I heard that old Zens had 13" rims and newer ones had 12".

With rim size, did any things else was changed to adopt to this change, like suspension, etc?

i would suggest you to get the rims from MASS. they shouldn't cost you more than 550rs per rim.

older zen had 13" rims on them, starting from MPFI models they started with 12" AFAIK.

Get 155/65-13 tyres and esteem steel rims. Best combo for zen.

I went to replace my stock MRF tyres. Had tubeless in mind. But the old steel rims had rust. So, I got fitted 155/70/R12 Michelin XM1+ along with Plati alloys in my Zen.

Riding, handling and braking improved a lot - also steering feels lighter (non-PS).

Go to A1 wheel allignment in wilson garden. He will give you all 4 for 1000-1500

These are used ones he buys in exchange for alloys.

I already have 145/70/R13 tyres and 13" steel rims (not sure if its Zen's or Esteem's)

Im mostly looking for Rim change as they are little rusted and have dents at places.

I was thinking is I will take it to A1 or Madhu's and see what he recommends on condition of rims and replace as required.

I can do selective replacement or all as he suggests. Do A1/Madhu's buy old rims and sell new ones?

I have tried searching a lot on the forum but i am unable to find any clear replies regarding Zen to EZen conversion. Please clarify.
I have a Zen 2003 Lxi 16 Bit ECU with 17000kms on odo.
1.) What all is required to convert it to 1.3L mill excluding gearbox ?
a.) Will just the head work fine alone (on current zen block) or will i have to get a new block with an Esteem head including new pistons (Are esteem's larger than zen's)?
b.) Will i have to change sensors ?
c.) Will i have to change ECU ? If yes will 32 Bit also work fine ( I heard that connections are same.)
d.) Anything else important.

2.) I find the brakes of Zen pathetic . I am comparing it to my M800 booster assisted brakes with Rane brake pads.
a.) Can i just change the booster to Esteem type? I have heard that esteem one is bigger and uses different mounts on firewall.
b.) Will changing the discs not involve changing the knuckle , hub , calliper ?

Please i look forward to replies from people who have already done it .
Also if any problems faced / points to be noted .

hi prasoon
sorry for the delayed reply, hope you have modified your zen. I changed to 155/ 65/ since 165/65 was rubbing with the body work, definitly FE isnt reduced, but it is the way you drive your car, of course handling has improved a lot. I get anywhere around 16-17kmpl in city with less traffic. it a carb zen, which is still in original company setting.

165/65-13 - I have this read in team BHP only.Do you agree to the same :
Pros - Fantastic handling and braking
Cons- FE goes down by 1-2kmpl, it needs 4.5j rims and needs some modification to the wheel well.
My verdict: Don't get this size unless u have some sources to mod the wheel well. Drop in FE should be considered

Queries :

1. Do we need to mod the wheel well if we use 165/65-13. Is there an issues of tyre rubbing with wheel well. Have you added any spacers or any mod done to wheel well.

2. What is the Rim size you are using.

3. Which is that tyre used in your car.

4. What are the differences in handling, braking and mileage after you were using the 155/65-13 .

5. IS 155/65-13 a correct profile for upsize and for adding alloy wheels, without any compromise to handling, braking and mileage.

Thnks
Prasoon
