The installed told that no relay is needed.

I am also looking at getting the trumpet horns for my dzire, but I would want one with a relay and switch. I still want to use the OEM horns within the city and leave the trumpet horns for the highways. Anyone knows the approximate cost of getting this done at a good place in Bangalore? TIA.

The horn issues are back again

A month ago, the Hella Trumpet horns that I had fixed back in 2013 started sounding feeble so had taken it to the M.A.S.S. The contacts below the horn pad were squeaky clean with absolutely no rust, they were shining in fact! Contacts on the horn end were also good so the diagnosis was that horns were weak and need to be replaced. Since the service was due 2 weeks later, they just adjusted the horn (tuning) and it sounded better.

After 2 weeks during the service I had them replace the horns with MGA ones. These worked well for a week and during my Hyderabad trip recently, just crossed Devanahalli and it started wimping and sounds very weak. What could be the problem ?
Can't be the brand new horns themselves going bad ?

Is it the wiring that is suspect now ?

Appreciate any hypothesis to help isolate and identify the problem.

So much for all the worry, turned out to be a damp squib in the end

The connector at the horn end wasn't crimped properly and had a loose contact!

A week after the horn was replaced, the problem began only during a highway drive, that too hardly 10Km into the drive and was miserable to say the least. It behaved like that for all of the 1300 odd Km and even till I drove to the MASS outlet. Once I handed the keys over to the service folk, the first press of the horn pad and the horn sounds much better than it had been for 4 days, and got better with each press of the horn pad
I had to stress that it was almost totally wimpy all this while and only now it seems slightly better.
Anyways, that indicated a probable loose connection, so once the bumper was lowered to access the horn, we found that the wire connector wasn't crimped properly causing a loose connection.
Hate such occasions that makes one look like an idiot who kept complaining about a problem that can't be reproduced!
