Default Help Some info on Esteem brakes on zen.

Hi guys,
I have read in many posts that people who upgrade their engines(zen-b or zen-e)have to upgrade their brakes by installing esteem brake kit..
I want to know what does this change involve?

1)Is it that the discs of esteem and rotors are installed on the zen.
2)are the rear drums also swapped?
3)master cylinder and what else needs to be changed?

If we do upgrade do we need to change rim size from 12 to 13'?

i drive a 02zen mostly on highways and the braking has given jitters many times, have serviced, replaced disc pads, done bleeding basically all the works, hence the basic idea was to buy estemm stuff and upgrade the zen braking...

Kindly tell me as to how its done..
Thanks....

Exactly my query, i have time till sunday to get this done to our zen. It would be great if someone who has already got the brakes of the zen swapped with an esteem's answer the above questions and some more too.

4) Are the brakes from Esteem Type 1 or Type 2?
5) What are the parts that required to be swapped or upgraded? I would be looking for O.E stuff so the names of the brands i can buy would be helpfull.
6) Do i need to change the rim size from 12"to 13" too for the rotors to fit?

I hope i can get this done by the weekend.

Along with it source a set of EBC green brake pads. Amazing friction difference.

Confirm once though.

@nitrous- would you happen to have some idea of the pricing? What about the life of these pads? would they last longer than stock?

5,000 rupees.
I'll know the life of these pads when the ones on my car are done.
I got my set from the US.

The other good brand I would recommend is Hawk. PJSPEEDSHOP is carrying stock of Hawk Pads.
PJ's also got the track/autocross series of Hawk brake pads which work at temperatures upto 800 degree Centigrade. But, these don't have bite at cold.

@RipperGeo: PJs got stock of Hawks for swifts.

will it really make a difference if at all i chose to change?

if someone has done it please let me know, the OEM brakes on zen are not worth mentioning

was going through this because i was reading up on Ezens. just wanted to confirm the questions from the first post because the replys are not very clear.

im guessing the rotors and pads of the esteem are installed on the zen.

does one also swap the rear drums or are the rear of the zen good enough ?

not too familiar about brakes but besides the master cylinder is there anything else that needs to be changed ?

on a E-zen / B-zen, apart from brake pads, one should also look at a stiffer suspension setup, wider footprint and positive cambering of the wheels. Its not the brakes alone, but the suspension too that plays a vital role in bringing the car to a stop in a straight line!

do we just stiffen up the zen suspension or are we looking in for an entire overhaul.

obiously the overhaul would be better but my question here is budget being an issue will handling be adversely affected with a stock zen suspension made stiff.

My 01 E-Zen was fast..touched 140 like a rocket and would hit 160..but braking was sad and so was handling..

I also realised at one point in time, the chassis of the car needs to be modified suitably to take the extra power.

Guess one needs to look at a complete revamp of the suspension rather than just stiffening..

Stiffening and sway bars etc just reduce body roll, but one needs more..

It would be really helpfull to some of us if someone who has done this already can answer the things asked above, just putting it down here once again.

1)Is it that the discs of esteem and rotors are installed on the zen.
2)are the rear drums also swapped?
3)master cylinder and what else needs to be changed?
4) Are the brakes from Esteem Type 1 or Type 2?
5) What are the parts that required to be swapped or upgraded? I would be looking for O.E stuff so the names of the brands i can buy would be helpfull.
6) Do i need to change the rim size from 12"to 13" too for the rotors to fit? ( asking this so that the rim change can be planned accordingly )
