if 100/90w is illegal,u can use the new philips bluevison bulbs which consume 55/60W but give about 90W of light.this is differnt from the blue lights that drifter is talking about.
How much do these cost? If it doesnt blind oncoming vehicles...then i'd switch over to them.

call City motors,

23887342/43/44

dunno if they keep it,but ahd got my plugs from them.

i think it should cost around 150-200/piece.

the blue vision will also not require a relay as it consumes only 55/60w.

And about the lamps which i have...do they really blind the other cars? because nobody has ever complained as in even when i drove past my own car in another car...i didnt think the headlamps were irritating to the eyes...but on high beam yes...they do blind more than others.

hey drifter...went and saw the lights which you have. those blue 100/90 bulbs. costing me 200 bucks and piece. and the relay and fitting is costing me 800 bucks. can you confirm it blinds others. the shopkeeper said it is more powerful than normal 100/90 bulbs.
also how will blue bulbs look on a red astra? out of place? do you get red bulbs also and how will they look?

200 for the bulbs? looks like i was hammed. but then i know for sure a relay cannot cost that much...i think my horn relay cost me about 100 bucks. The lights havent caused any problems to me...maybe you can check them out for yourself in the evening on my car. Blue on a red car?? Hmm, i dont know.

Ok the bulbs are fine then....but check with price of relay and fitting with a few more shops...i think 1000 is a bit steep.

Yeah..the relay is sounding a bit expensive. I don't think it costs that much...more like 150-200 at the most.

Drifter,
No probs w/o the relay ? I've been toying with the idea of putting 90/100w on the Accent.

Yeah when i went to get the lamps...the mech told me that accent didnt need a relay as it already came with a factory fitted one....i've been using them for quite some time now....no probs.

Adil, the reason behind the lowered lighting is due to the original glass lens of the headlight becoming dull, reducing the effectivness of the bulbs. This happens on all Astra's as they age. You could try and clean them (would be tough as they are sealed) or just go out and buy a new pair (expensive). Or, you could suppliment the headlights with a set of good driving lights.

Simply putting higher watt bulbs on your existing lamps would not really be a good way to go about it, and you will still find them dull.

the lamps are new so mostly they are not dull. the thing with xenons are that they are too expensive (as far as i know). i am not spending more than 3000 rupees. if i will get xenons for that much then i will put it.
i doubt there are clear lamps for astra.
my lamps are 4 months old.

My badd! How much do they cost now?

And a pair of good Hella driving lights would still be a great idea, plus, would make the car look better as well.
