Exactly the problem not too many facilities where processes or equipment are available, not saying its next to impossible but definately more of a problem when compared to MS or SS.

Here is a basic block diagram i made in paint as no CAD in office but will give you an idea of what kind of mechanism I'm talking about. I feel this should work, corrections and sugestions are more than welcome!

if you are putting in so much effort to move the engine to the rear - why not make the box a sequential shift? Most of the race cars have sequential shifts anyways right?

Madan, I'm sure for a college project the funds will be pretty tight. Making a new gear box will involve everything from the design stage. Not very simple to achieve. Will only push up costs.

As far as I've read about sequential shift mechanisms, they can't be used directly onto a maruti 800 engine which has manual transmission.

By the way even I'm involved in a similar project..similar problems!
