yeah .. i saw a red BMW with warning sign once in UK .. but i dbout things like that even exist.. if "cooldude" can tolerate the shock then its not sufficient enough to secure the car ...
my roomate (1st year ) was from this gang called "autos" in toronto .. they stole modded cars and rpped them off the modds and left the car a few blocks away ...he used to tell me about hi tech alarm systems and back up alarms (once a civic had 3 separate alarm system )the cars had and how his "boys" managed to break in...
but never heard of a alarm system which charged a car with electric shocks ...

that car had such a system.. not that i could tolerate the shock.. but somebody would be shoched for a moment and yes.. he would touch again but that would be for a fraction of a second .. for a continuous touch he would get a nasty shock!!.. that would deter our robbers atleast for sometime

hmm.. i dont think anyone would know in the beginning itself that the car is charged.. but yest gloves would render the system useless upto an extent.. but it would deter most of the masses

How long would your battery last? If you park on MG in Pune, there'll be so many guys brushing past your car, by the time you come back, the battery would have drained out! That'll be another shock!!!

Similar crude anti theft devices became quite common in South Africa a few years back - The car theft rate there was so high , some people started rigging shotguns to the doors....effective yes, legal no....

The best anti theft device is having a driver .... unless you want to chain a doberman to the car.

I came across a Benz here that had this system on it - it was on the door knobs - if you grip them, you get zapped. If you put your finger close to the two opposite ends of the knob(its not a knob, is it...? hehe... cant think of the right word right now, so...) you feela litttle tingling sesnsation, but if you touch it, after a second you get a NAAASTY shock.

Dunno where the sysem was from tho.... :(

Cheers!!

i think the best safety feature would be to get a good engine immobiliser thereby the theft of car is prevented but you still could lose the musice system and other valuables from the car.
as of now the high end luxury cars come with an engine immobiliser where in if the original computer coded key is not used the car will stall within 50m and then only the authorised service guys can restart it, not even the original key!!
