Default Huper Optik & Solar Gard sunfilms for front Windshield

Hi Guys,

Just want to share some info. While i am enquiring for the sunfilm for my Ikon, VKool quoted 7700/- for front windshield only (VKool70).

However i found two other brands which has equal and better range of products than VKool.

1. Huper Optik's - Klar70ST: This has equivalent IR and UV blocking properties as V-Kool70 and will cost Rs.4500/- with 10 years warranty. They have an entire range of products for front windshield, windows and rear windshield. Another one i enquired is Ceramic60 for windows & rear windshield. It would cost Rs.9500 and provides 60%IR blocking. Similar product in Vkool will cost Rs.16000(Vkool Select).

2. Solar Gard- This has better IR Blocking than V-Kool. Cost. Rs.3600/- (for Front Windshield) with 10years warranty. This film is distributed in India by Xenos.
Solar Gard's range for windows & rear windshield starts from Rs.1800 and max Rs.4800.

I think that V-Kool is unnecessarily expensive than other brands. When Searched on internet i came to know that, these two brands sell better than VKool in international market.

I have seen Huper Optik's samples with the Ford dealer. I am yet to see the Solar Gard sample. I need to visit their dealer on JC road to see them. I will try either one of these on my car.

Thanks

Thanks vaspro. I'll have to check up whether these are available in Kolkata. I have got a quotation of 11K for Llumar front(AIR75) and all other sides (AIR35).

Lumar PP60 on the front windshield on most of my cars ranges from about 3.5k on a lancer to 4k on a skoda for a single piece film, matched with Steel 50 on the sides its works very effectively.
Anyone used the Llumar Steel60(pp60) for the front windscreen in the last couple of months?

Whats the going rate?

@Puranjoy: Huper Optik will be available with Ford dealers as it is the ford approved brand.

For solargard lookup the contact details in Xenos website (i posted the link in my earlier post). They have a regional office in Kolkata. Those guys will give you their dealer's contact where you can get them.

Do let us know what sunfilm did you get for your car.

Cheers

haither, please remember that you can't promote a brand you represent on Team-BHP. Even though I am not suspecting that you are here, I just indicated it.

Thanks.

Hi Naveen,

I am glad that the information i posted is of use to you.

I called Infracool solutions and spoke to a guy Muhfiz Khan (i dont exactly remember his name). They quoted Rs.7749 for front windshield (product is Vkool70).

1. Huper Optik: I saw the samples and price quote at Cauvery Ford. Contact person is Mouli (9900457547). However i found out that this brand is distributed in India by Opulent Autocare in Pune. I sent them a query asking for their dealers in Bangalore (other than Cauvery Ford).
Here is Opulent Autocare's contact details:

Fax : +91-20-272 930 33

Opulent

2. Solar Gard: It is distributed in India Xenos India pvt ltd. I got their dealer details by calling their regional office in Bangalore. I spoke to the dealer over phone and got the quote. However i am yet to see the samples.
Here is the contact information:
Wahid (9886824010)
Motor Needs,

Minerva Circle,
JC road.

Hope this helps. Do let me know what did you find out and which product you decided on.

Cheers

After a chat with Addy it seems like Bombay cops come down heavily on dark tints and dark film on the windscreen :(

Need to dig up the legal options now.

Dark tints especially for the front windscreen is a big no no. It really hampers the night vision. Even for all around dark tints is bound to cause more problems than save you from a tan

With a powerful set of headlamps and alert driving it shouldnt be that bad

Anyone has an idea as to the darkest legal shade from Llumar? (W+S+R)

Default How dark is too dark?

@S0uljah: Thanks for asking that question. Here is an interesting article in Times of India.. How dark is too dark?-Bangalore Times-Cities-The Times of India

Quote:
According to a provision of the MVA, owners of vehicles which have glasses tinted beyond the permissible limit, can be penalised. The act says that vehicles where visual transmission of light is less than 70 per cent through windscreens and rear window panes and 50 per cent from the sides, are flouting the rules.
So my suggestion would be Llumar AIR75 for Front windscreen(or Vkool70 or Klar70ST). For sides choose something like Steel50 to stay with in the legal limits.

cheers

Any feedback in Icecool Shield from Garware for the front windscreen? The tech specs look good. They are offering for Rs 2800 all inclusive for the front windscreen. If anyone has used this, will appreciate a feedback.

@dinu2506 : If this is the slightly dark one then its okay. I paid 2.2 -2.3k around 2 years back. Its average, not fantastic heat rejection or anything. I have a feeling it's prone to scratches too, car isnt with me anymore so I dont know.

Mumbai guys, would LLumar PP70 (supposed to be 70% visibility) on the Windscreen get me into trouble?

LLumar Fresh quotes - Swift :

Windshield PP60/70 = Rs 7000
S+R Steel 50 = Rs 4500

Have to bargain a little more.

Steel is the greyish/reflective time I assume?

I would have loved to have jet black, in Bangalore it is not too much of a problem.

But I might be taking the car upto Mumbai for an extended period. From what Addy says the cops are pretty strict. I dont want to rip of 10k worth of tints some few months down the line.

Inputs ?
