In the process making other drivers blind! Sorry to be blunt, but I hate high beams, more so with illegally high wattage bulbs. (BTW, I never use high beam in city as such, and even otherwise only if required. Similarly, never forget to put my headlamps into high beam the moment somebody else's lights distract me, it just happens subconsciously!)

IIRC, the Garware cost around 4-5k for everything except the front windscreen, the Air75 won't give you any such problems, I have adequate visibility at night to spot trucks running without lights and reflectors on unlit highways, even while running on low beam at upwards of 100kmph.

you're right it is quite embarassing when you get dirty looks from oncoming drivers. i heard the air 75 is the lightest shade so i guess i will have to replace the PP60 with Air 75!.

I got Llumar Air80 installed on the windshield of my 3 week old i10 Sportz a couple of days back. It is even more clearer than the AIr75 and has slightly better specs than the Air75 in terms of IR rejection and Total Heat rejection. I got the install done from the LLumar showroom situated at S.V Road just besides Autovista, Bandra The film+install cost me around 8k and its well worth it. i was getting AIR75 for 6.5k but i decieded to take the plunge and go ahead with the newer and better AIR80.

I also installed Black20 tints for sides + rear for approx 2k.

A word of advice. please install sun-films from the authorised distributors who specialise in sun-film install. They might cost a franction more than the friendly accessory stores like in (Milan Subway, Mumbai) but the install quality is way better.

Cheers

Doesn't AIR80 have a somewhat bluish tint?

I don't know if this is the right thread to ask this question, but here it goes.

I have booked a Ritz Zxi and want to put sunfilm on all the windows and rear/front windscreens. I have heard good things about 3M and llumar on this thread and elsewhere. I am totally confused right now as to what should I get for my car. I don't want to put anything that is illegal.

Here's what I need to know -
  • Which sunfilm to go for
  • Quotes for the sunfilm in Bangalore
  • Good shop to get the sunfilm installed in Bangalore
Please help.

Legal Limits for visibility is Front Windscreen : 75%, Other windows : 50%. Its your choice as to which one to go for w.r.t. UV reduction, brand etc.

I have Air 75 on my silver stones windscreen and RE 35 on all windows.

I had Llumar AIR 75 installed for my Esteem's windshield from a store on St. Johns road, Bangalore.

The store is called AutoMoto and is bang opposite the St. Franscis Xavier church.

Cost me Rs. 6500 including installation.

Contact Nadeem who owns the store. He get the installers from the Manufacturer/Distributor do the installation.

He expects a one day advance notification so he can have the installers come and install it quickly. They completed the installation in about 45 minutes. Neat job done...and you get a 5 year warranty with it.

I notice substantial heat reduction, not visibility issues at night and what's more, its helps in reducing glare from oncoming vehicle headlights.

Its a great product and am happy to have it in my car.

There is something really very fishy about TintMart and their KoolTint! It looks like a fake brand to me. They push it by saying they are the only dealers for it in bangalore. "Look for it on the net", they said. I did (like i always do), and the funny thing is, the Kooltintusa website is created by the TintMart/Pitstop people themselves through a webdesign company in bangalore! There is no mention of this brand anywhere else on the web. Every other brand has a mention in the tinting forums worldwide, except this!
And finally, if you look carefully at the specs, their front window sunfilms, Premium CL90 & Elegent 75 (includes wrong spelling), claim to have TSER of 90 & 92% while letting in visible light of 90 & 75%. let me tell you something, that is impossible for a clear film to achieve, even by themselves as their Spectra Black IR 20 TSER is only 67% while letting in only 20% visible light!! when i had mentioned this to them some time ago, they had said, "ok, don't buy it then, buy v-kool". They probably realised, this guy has done his research!
i have a feeling, they are getting this film from some local or chinese manufacturer, branding it and duping the public.
BEWARE!
