Exclamation Sound deadening materials!

Hi everyone, wanted to know if any one here is using any sound deadening material like dynamat etc.,

How much would dynamat or some other brand cost?

What other alternatives are possible instead of going for these branded products? And how much would that cost?

Most importantly where will i be able to get these stuff in bangalore?

Thumbs up

Hi Harrie,

Sound Deadening sheets are marketed in India by Dinitrol. They are imported from Germany and resold here. They charge approx RS4500/- for installing it in the car.

Another option which is cheaper and better in my opinion is strip your car completely(i.e. floor carpets , door panels, roof etc) and apply fibre glass sheets to the surface. You can paint over them and they improve the overall strength of your car. I have used both products in identical cars that is esteem and find the fibre glass option better. Cost wise it is also almost the same.

Cheers,

Viper

Fibre glass sheets like the regular FRP sheets? but arent they a bit hard and will they fit the contours? Can you let me know how exactly you install it?

@ twister - sound deadening materials are used in the car to improve car acoustics and sound quality. Also to prevent rattles when going a bit heavy on the bass.

Ya have seen that one. But i guess for the retaining clips holding on the mat i would have to make holes in the bonnet.

I was mainly looking for something for the floors and behind the door pads. I can barely hear if the engine is running now after removing the free flow! Its ultra quiet.

BTW is a stiffening material different from deadening material?

Hey Harrie,

The Sheets are extremely flexible. They become hard only after you apply the fixing/hardening chemical onto them. The best person to contact would be anyone doing fibre glass work(body kits, skirts etc). The sheets is to be fitted under the bonnet as well . You will be amazed at how much more stronger your panels will become. They should be able to do the job for you. The total time taken to install the same including curing time for the paint befor you can fit your carpets and roof liner is 24-36 hours max. some people use a heat gun/dryer to shorten that time.

Viper can you let me know if its commercially available. The people doing body kits in my place (coimbatore) would charge me a bomb for it! I prefer to get the stuff and let my tinker do it under my supervision...
