Default Air intake for Palio MJD

Last week, I checked out the Green Cotton range and the K&N range at Hot Tracks, Bangalore.

Green Cotton:Their performance intake and filter required the engine cover to be removed, according to Anil at Hot Tracks.

K&N: They aren't making stock filters for the Palio MJD as yet. They do have stock filters for the old Palio 1.9D.

Can anyone tell me if:
1. Anil's (and Hot Tracks') claims are true wrt to Green Cotton and K&N for the Palio MJD?

2. Is there any way to fit the performance intake and filter without removing the engine cover?

Hahahaha! A sort of lab rat, I guess. Never mind! For a short period, I'll have the pleasure of driving the fastest MJD on our forum.

But seriously, I'm running myself ragged looking for an air intake. Then, I can go ahead and switch to Stage 2 on the Pete's box.

I'd avoid using performance filter that has been designed for the Palio 1.9D. Too many differences in the engines requirement of air induction. That said, I don't see why it would be too difficult to use one made for a similar engine. Write to Methods & Petes to hear out their opinion on this. Do post it here, will be beneficial for other Palio MJD owners.

Sorry to say, but you took the big corporation route and got a canned dumbass reply. I recall calling up and speaking to the gentleman himself when I was considering a MJD.

That may be in order, rather than a impersonal email that gets a safe (and useless) response - no?

PS: Fully agree with GTO

Can you post the pic of the engine bay to understand how a custom intake could be done.

Dear Tom,
..........
Tom,

There are a couple of issues at play here.
1. There is some confusion between the Palio MJD's GC stuff and the older Palio 1.9D's stuff. Anil at Hot Tracks was confident that there was only 1 GC product - the Green Wind - that fits the Palio MJD. Fitting this entails a removal of the engine cover.

2. There are no stock replacement filters available from GC for the Palio MJD. For that matter, even K&N doesn't have one for the Palio MJD.

3. The Pete's Box is available for the Palio MJD. I have it fitted on my car. And it rocks.
