Aaah! You mean the gears.... But wont GT ratios be too short for a turbo Amit? IIRC I am running a GT setup now, find it too short...

PS: I ain't no tuner, never want to be one either. Just an enthu trying to help Karthik with all the info that I have gathered for my own project over the last year.

half knowledge is often dangerous especially when helping others.

It is a mix n match.

Like I mentioned, I was never told ANYTHING about my build by my ex tuner. Anyways, thats a story for a different thread. Though I clearly remember picking up an entire GT set from Santosh for my car.

ECU and gearbox issues have to be still spoken to the respective people.

We all learn from our mistakes, dont we Amit? When you only could undergo a tough time being in this scene for a lot longer than me, not surprised I got sucked into it too... Anyways lets keep this thread to helping Karthik. If you notice, the motive of this thread is not to keep the details of this project a secret, like most tuners tend to do with their builds. We are hoping that people like you and others shall come forward with your own experiences and help each other out. Knowledge is meant to be shared, not hidden .

White balenos are common these days, when im getting a paint job done might as well get something unique.

This is brilliant. A huge thanks to Karthik for putting the details of your build up in public. This helps us wannabes plan. How much are those Konig wheels, btw?

A big thanks to Rahul, Amit, Mohit and the others for moving the build along in a friendly and technical manner. It is very refreshing to see the info that you all are sharing.

Regarding paint scheme, how would stripes like a Ford GT look on the Baleno? Too weird?

4th and 6th are my choices. what color?
and your choice of Baleno over the city is a cracker man. way to go. Its far more stable and sturdy than the overhyped City.

Im just putting the details here, Rahuls the guy behind the performance stuff, i got the body stuff covered... now have to get someone help out with the ICE

No stripes, no stickers, only good paint job on this one..

Paint options are...
Red with black hood, black wheels, red n black interiors
Blue with black or white wheels, matching interiors
Grey with black hood black wheels, matching interiors
Black with black wheels, black tints, everything black (common, but will look wicked)

Amit, yellow also should be good, but bright.

@Silver Knight
Good to know i made the right decision.. Most of the designs are available in hyper silver, black or grey.

Apart from the rods, gearbox is the other weaklink in the balenos. Its not the ratios as such but construction of the gearbox is weak in the 1.6balenos. Yes GTi gearboxes are strong and are known to take a lot of boost but I never knew that was a fit in our cars. Another option is the J18 gearbox, not plug and play but can be fitted. J18 have cable operated gearboxes so that has to be modified.

But what I would do it strengthen the current gearbox if I am running serious boost. Which involves a lot of money and effort. Not at all an easy task.

Rahul, you posted the video of the dyno run right. That build is putting out around 180bhp at the wheels with a stock unported head and stock cams if I remember correctly. But he is running forged internals and a strengthened gearbox, which out which he cannot pull it off.

Black baleno with black alloys(with silver lips) with black tints and black mesh grill. Probably tried by lot of people(nt sure though),but all black look awesome.

Both are wicked cars, I would definitely go for the 35k done Baleno. Mods are easier and I presume less expensive on the same. Less means not very much though. The options are also more on the Baleno. Yet the choice is for yours to make. Priorotise on the need.
Cheers,
