Default Dummy (cosmetic) rear disc brakes

I did a double-take while walking past a a parked Swift the other day.

The owner had modified the rear drum brakes with a dummy disc brake complete with painted callipers exactly as in the front. I checked whether it was a real disc brake setup but could see the drum brakes behind the cosmetic add-ons.

While I HAVE noticed people welding on discs on top of their rear drums (usually on Swifts), this was the first time I saw the cosmetic calliper fitting too. The job was also impeccably executed and with the Swift's low-profile 16" Momos, the looks were stunning!

Does anyone on TBHP have any first-hand experience of such an add-on? What are the cons of the same? Won't it make the rear drums unbalanced etc with the added weight?

Sorry, no pictures as my 9500's camera stopped working after my son tried to dismantle it!

Yup, there's a couple of them wannabe disc brakes out there.

Some previous discussions on the same:

1 (Brake Calliper Covers)

2 (Most irritating car accessories!!)

3 (Bad Modifications)
