Thumbs up 200 BHP and torque up to 400Nm Fortuner ! hail Pete's!

For the power hungry who think 172bhp and 343Nm isnt enough go get this!
The mail from Pete's says the output would be 200bhp and 400Nm !

Dont forget the brake upgrade!

Toyota Motorsports Gmbh also offers the DEPK( Deisel engine performance kit) as an official Toyota part, which claims 200BHP and 440NM of torque. I was going to order this, but today I read the newsletter from Pete's and quickly changed my mind

I spoke to Peter and placed the order with Arush.
It should be arriving by thursday and will be put in my Fortuner sometime this weekend. Will update about the performance gains.

Really excited to experience those 200 horses and the compare it with the stock performance figures.

If the prices are nearly same on arrival in india i'd prefer the toyota kit as it has more torque and thats what matters in SUV's.

though post up the performance difference in your suv.also do post the real world gains in traffic driving as in lugging ability at low rpm on higher gears.

As I posted in the Fortuner Test Report, a 200 BHP Fortuner is going to be a heck of an SUV. 0 - 100 in 10.5 seconds?

Better upgrade the stock brakes though. Top priority!

Sweet! An official Toyota accessory. Where'd you see this and how much to order online?

The DEPK is ordered as a spare part, unfortunately it is not available with toyota dealers in INDIA and it will still VOID the warranty in INDIA.:( Although you may order it from any dealer in UK and it does not do any harm to your warranty in UK.

The price is around 940 Euro + shipping according to the email I received from Toyota motorsports.
You can see other products from Toyota on the site:
TTE - by TOYOTA MOTORSPORT GmbH

I decided to go for Pete's because of local support here and his reputation. Plus it is relatively cheaper and in for the price of TTE chip I may get my Swift 'Peted' as well.
So lets hope the chip delivers what it promises.

I feel the brakes need to be upgraded as well as they feel very spongy.
Note: The car has already done 1600km.

Thanks. So that's about 60,000 rupees landed. Expensive, yet not bad for a "Toyota approved" product which has, in all certainty, been tested in some way by the big T.

How about a new thread on a detailed ownership report of your Fortuner?!

Wouldn't your warranty be void if you upgraded the brakes anyway?

wow. now that'll be one review worth waiting for. the warrantly does get void I guess you're aware of that. Is this a bolt-on piggy back kit or something? in which case , you can remove it when the toyota guys end up around the car. you know what i'm saying.
looking fwd for a good ownership review too.

1) Can the transmission handle all this ?
2) This is a high CG vehicle, so isn't it too much power for people to explore ? 200 bhp is a big number and the torque is very high too.

IMHO, with this set up, there must be an upgrade offer for suspension and brakes. Brakes were not reported to be nice in GTO's thread. Without suspension and brake upgrade, this monster with 200 bhp is going to be weird combination.

What is cost of Petes' box for Fortuner ? Is this stage I as Pete offers more than one stage for almost all the cars. And Innova has been here for long, so he might have more than one stage with him ( as its basically a bigger Innova motor under Fortuner ).

Does the fortuner handle well enough to be peted?

Seems to make more sense to invest the money first in a brake kit and suspension upgrade (I think the B6 is available for the fortuner) rather than on more unusable power.

I totally agree with most people's view on the brake upgrade. The stock brakes are just not upto the mark, once you are running 200 Bhp, you will certainly pray for FAR BETTER brakes.

Maybe Pete's would offer a solution to that one too !! :-)

Cheers
