Rudra, this thread was in Modifications and Accessories. Is it permanently on Accessory/ Part reviews now?

Hi,

Getting a new Fiat GP. I am absolutely clueless about Sun Film specs.

The dealer Wasan Motors, Marine Lines, Mumbai is offering Garware (Quote: 8K) & VCool (Quote: 19K) for an all round Sun Film. Are these worth it?

I am leaning more towards something from 3M as I somehow tend to trust them more as a brand. Can someone please advise me on the following :-
  1. Correct Specification for film for front windscreen, windows and rear window if I use the 3M brand.
  2. Cost of the above configuration.
  3. Where in Mumbai close to Marine Lines can I get the 3M coating done?
  4. Do these films affect visibility by any margin? If so please advise a specification thats offers the lowest loss in visibility.
  5. Do these really work to such a level that the difference in using them is easily perceivable?
Thanks in Advance!

As provided in Rule 100 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, the glass of windscreen and rear window of motor vehicles should have a visibility of at least 70% and that of side windows a minimum visibility of 50%.

From the website : Delhi Traffic Police, New Delhi (India) - Tinted Glass in Motor Vehicles

Praful, the quote for Garware is way too high, ask dealer which series is he talking about. 3M is good, but take quotes from different shops.

Can you specify which variant this price was quoted for?(I guess front is Vkool70)

In bangalore for swift car, it was quoted as for front vkool 70 premium = 10088 and S+R = 22596 (V40).

Got another one, for S+R, quoted v35(I dont know vkool 35 is available!) and front(v70) can be done at a cost of 13k after all discounts.

Thanks for the valuable info guys.

But I need to find out dealers for 3M and their quoted prices ASAP, else its the VKool film which I find to be a tad on the higher side.

VKool guys came down to 18K for 76% heat rejection films for the entire car.

Recently put VKool on Swift.

Front - VKool 70
Sides & Rear - K14

Total Cost: 13500/- with out bill.

Pretty nice setup with the shop. Except two small bubbles on front windscreen everything fine.

Superb heat rejection, I do not mind parking in direct sunlight for lonf time.

After a week bubbles disappeared. Still a very small scrath type mark exists, due to the excessive rubbing while trying to remove bubble at installation time, not an issue. Superb heat rejection, VKool rocks
