Lightbulb Rs.50,000 for mod's. What would you do?

Ok. Let's assume the tooth fairy left you Rs.50,000 one fine day. Only one condition, you have to spend that entire amount on modifications for your existing vehicle.

So, what would you do. It can be anything you want to do to your car, handling upgrade, engine work, exterior looks, I.C.E....anything! Put down your list here. I'm sure some of the idea's put down would help others thinking about this.

Example of Format to be followed:

Car: (Zen/Esteem/Astra/vRS etc)
Modifications:
Mod 1: Complete exhaust system
Approx. Price: Rs.15,000
Balance left: Rs.35,000

Mod 2: Port/polish the head
Approx. Price: Rs.6,000
Balance left: Rs.29,000

Mod 3: Tyres
Approx. Price: Rs.20,000
Balance left: Rs.9,000

Mod 3: Bass tube
Approx. Price: Rs.9,000
Balance left: Rs.Nil

You get the drift...now let's see what you can do with your (hypothetical) money.

I'd straight away go for Mod1, an esteem engine and if its not ported/polished, then port n polish it. Rest will be spent on tyres.
Dammit why is my birthday so far away...

@ Amitoj: That was just an example I put up there. You need to list down your OWN mods!

@Iceman: haha! Sorry bro. I mean't to keep this realistic, as 50K is about what a lot of people want to spend on their car's. So let's see how you can work the budget for maximum bang with the minimum buck.

I'd go with the same, but I'd ditch the Bass tube and go with a K&N Hyper Performance Air filter with cold induction

I think it costs about 8 - 8.5 grand, so I'm still within budget

m800 nov 1998 model

upgrades

strut kits - no idea of the cost.

new rims - around 3000 bucks approx

new wheel caps - may be around 800 - 1000/- bucks

tires are new so no upgrades needed.

new paint as the present paint is stock, pheonix red. i dont like that colour now. cost approx 10000/-

pillars have to be worked on as they are showing signs of rusting and it is eating into now. cost approx 3000/-

wiper assembly as it also has started rusting. no idea of the cost.

new set of headlights and tails lights. was thinking of putting in the new m800 version head lights and tail lights with some good bulbs as i have a covered my windshield completely with sunfilm. may be approx 3000/- bucks

new set of bumpers : cost around 2500/

host of new accesories with interiors to be as good as new. seat covers, some polishing of the dashboard assembly, new matting, new cover for the steering, etc. approx cost 5000/-

coat of anti rust for the under body and may be teflon coating. cost approx 4000/-

total cost till now comes to 31500/- and add the cost that i dont know , i think that will come to around 50000/-

no major modifications for me except that i want my car to look good now. me not planning to sell the car and have started to love it more now after it dint ditch me even i went through 2 feet water with all water gushing in but it did not go dead. when i see big line of cars ranging from santro to accord with some or the other problems after rains im mumbai, i m proud to be driving my car without giving my hubby any added tensions. ditto with my dad's accent, same situation, they were stuck in traffic for close to 6 hours but not even once did the car show any signs of breaking down. dont know about other accents but my accent is the best piece hyundai must have sold.

now i m waiting for the line of cars to end at my hubby's w/s so that he can start work with my car.

and i m hoping that i have Rs 50000/- soon to do all the work i have dreamed off.

here we go-
Existing vehicle - Baleno
Existing Mods- K & N universal air intake, BSA alloys. Michelin Certis tyres, 100w headlights
Existing ICE - MD deck, 10CD changer, amp, front & rear compos & 12" Bass tube

50,000
Complete exhaust w/headers - 10,000 (well thats what i was told anyway)
remaining - 40.000

MSD ignition - 5,000
remaining - 35,000

4 head sparks/platinum plugs 1,600
remain 33,400

Functional Front air dam- 5,400 --------- Absolutely no clue about how much it costs
remain- 28,000

New taillight cluster 6,000
a compltely new look
again no idea abt the cost
remain 22,000

Side skirts & rear fender 6,000
remain 16,000

now here's the tricky part.
I dont know how much a mild cam for this would cost, still have money in the bank, but......
or do i go for a port and polish. The car should still be left City drivable, by my dad who takes care of it for the 6 months that i'm outta the country, and if driven normally wiull still retyrn a survivable f.e in bbay with ac- read 8.5/8.0

You guys let me know 16K to play with

Else i will upgrade my music a bit. changer needs replacing to a MP3 compatible
and could add a secong amp to drive the Sub

You mAY Wonder why th Bumper comes first and the skirts later, coz thats mor or less the order that i would go in if i get the cash (read - slog & earn) bit by bit- with the exception of the camwork

Thats mine
Cheers!!

Car - Skoda Octavia

Cash left - Rs 50,000

Intented Mods - Buy a 2 wheeler and keep the octy stock.

Reason - The roads (if i may call them that ) being non existent , and the car taking a battering on the roads every single time i drive - it makes better sense to buy a 2 wheeler b'cause the roads might remain like this for a year atleast - given the govts urgency to work and concentrate only on the flood relief devastation thats happened. So i dont see the roads improving and i dont intend taking my car out !

Keep the car for a rainy day or a long drive !

Sorry fellas - the above might sound like ranting but Im seriously cinsidering a bike now !

cheers
