| Hi I always had a dream of owning an UNO with a 1.6 engine...!!! I have till now not driven any car with stability and the sporty feeeling of an uno fitted with good shoes (Goodyear Eagle ventura - 195/60 R13)!!! Have been driving an UNo diesel 1.7 which is a superb performer in itself... If at all I do buy an UNO are the 1.6 engines available....? Also, what would be the cost of the mod with the engine...? Would like to know if there are people aorund who think on the same lines... for an UNO... ~*SAMY*~ Last edited by urdudesamy : 3rd November 2005 at 19:59. |

| BHPian | i dont think UNO is available in 1.6 engine (correct me if i am wrong) 1.6 palio is a great car but it is also out of production you can get a preowned car at bargain rates you can try that..... i myself has a palio but its 1.2 it still rock ![]()

| oops, max I have gone up till is the astra taking along every car till this bracket , well haven't driven the skoda , which i know has a better feel to it. but how far can you go and compare a b+ segment car to... Well its not available in 1.6 engine in india, but it was with a better powerful engine in the uno MKII I.E. Turbo Racing version, churning out 145 bhp from a 1.4 Litre engine. http://www.bilgalleri.dk/html/gal_visbil.asp?ID=31752 http://www.unoturbo.za.net/index.php/pages/2.php http://groups.msn.com/TurboCollectiv...09222009537746 - this one has 180bhp one , obvioulsy tuned up a bit... http://www.carsurvey.org/review_54777.html - VW GTI 16v ownerz review... 0-60MPH for a stock UNO MK2 was 7.7 seconds shot with (OEM) Pirelli P4000 175/60 R13 tyres... http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/iipcache/14631.jpg - watch the door knob... was a sports coupe in europe... some people still own and drag race it... The palio's 1.2 is actually a UNOz engine replaced with a multi point fuel injection from a centrally fuel injection unit. Well, so was the siena's 1.7td... actually built for the UNO... It's europe's phased out coupe... but still drives superb.... Depends if u have driven it or not... Cheers!!! |

| Senior - BHPian | you will have to get the engine from the same place from the links you mentioned above. There is a slight chance though that you pali 1.6 maybe a direct fit. Palio 1.6 is not discontinued but still available for sale. It has been reinvented.

Hey dude, are you encouraging plonking a reinvented 1.6L palio engine on to an uno???? The engine would cost twice the car price man!!!

| Senior - BHPian | that engine upgrade is what he wants. I have also suggested a palio instead. If he thinks it is fine for him to upgrade let him upgrade. If the costs are high for him I dont see him going ahead with the upgrade. Let him decide what he wants. I still say palio 1.6 is better ![]()

| Its beyond my reach to undertand as to,why would somebody pump up money on a Uno,when there is a readily available 1.6gtx outhere???? And yeah, you also happen to be the first person in these many years who loves Unos. X

| Senior - BHPian | Sign me up for the Uno fan club! Unos are big across Europe, especially the UK, as cheap cars to build and race. Mark II Uno was an amazing car. It would have beaten the hell out of all the Indian cars, but they chose to launch the wimpy 1.0 instead. The 1.0 can still be worked on. Or there's always your original option of the 1.6 unit. It shouldn't be too tough to do...

| Senior - BHPian | I dunno but the engine bay looks smaller than that of the palio. But I guess as both cars are based on the same platform it must be easy to do the work. any1 with the time and money to put in the project is welcome.

| Well!!! to make it short I don't have the dough to buy a palio 1.6 GTX. I did have a deal abck in gurgaon for 1.4L for a 3 year old in gold done only 28k, was relocating to banaglore so lost the deal... Now finding it hard tto commute when its raining in bangalore... simple.. Went aorund and got to know that UNo aprts are available , easier than delhi I shud say!!! Well forget about 1.0 yaar, one can also work out the 1.2 which is available in the second hand market damn cheap... and that too like new... One thing about bangalore is cars do a lot less as compared to in delhi... Well about the engine bay, if the 1.2 is there so cna the 1.6 because if teh 1.2 is in there in the palio so is the 1.6. To be honest i posted this to find if anyone has actually thought of it ever , or even done it... Well as of now I don't have the dough to do it, but some day if things are possible I would surely like to do it and ride it... lets c , as of now I think i might pick up an uno 1.2 with low mileage at a damn cheap price and fit in a free flow exhaust and Air filter. As of engine parts, its similar to palio 1.2 so are the suspension parts like bush etc..., coz we had put in some parts from the uno into a palio when overhauling a palio 1.6 front suspension. its similar... Yeah!!!, I know its dmapopular in the UK, shud i say the european market. Well it scores because it has a low riding position like the zen, infact better than the zen with a heavier body so things actually seem much confident when you ride one.. It didn't do good with the 800 and alto bec ause it ahd lost amrket very early , thansk to lord fiat taking no car for AFS, and advertising is not their books.... To highlight a uno 1.2 was cheaper than the 800 5-speed and the alto... They did have a good product still selling in africa, just had to work on the wiring and rear brakes part... i know its a lost product, people don;t like it, but yaar when u ahven't driven it... Lets not say its real bad.... actually thats why it failed in India because "people go by words not experience". NO offence in any way... let's C... the bloody tax returns are also to filed in the coming months. saal paisa toh investments aur tax mein nikal jaata hai... peace out.... ~*SAMY*~ |
