my Fiam horns stopped working this weekend after 1.5 months of use. I was .

I took it to the place where I got the same installed. The person checked out and said the power converter (for higher amperage ) had blown. He took an hour to replace the same (As he had to dismantle the bumper and replace. In Swift D there is no space for horn other than behind the bumper). He didn't charge me any money as it was within 3 months of installation. He also mentioned that this is a 1 in 100 chance that such a problem comes up.

I am now repenting for having installed a horn that needs complicated accessories for installation. If this issue gets repeated in the near future what should be my course of action.

1. Change the dealer and get it rectified.
2. Go for a reliable pair of horns that do not need such conversion (Here I need some suggestions on the model/make).
3. Go for a new set of Maruti approved horn.

Thanks in advance.

Aditya,

I paid 550+80 shipping totalling 630 off Ebay India. Shipping was within 48 hours.

Packing was ok but the horns must have been tested before dispatch as they were wrapped with the Economic Times inside! The box, relay and the horns look genuine though. Hope to fit them tomorrow. Worried about warranty issues.

Didn't get any response to my query. Anyone had similar experience and can share some insights would be useful.

I am of the same opinion mate.I had it installed in my erstwhile Maruti 800,which was sold recently.Pretty terrific sound, and I used to really scare annoying people out of my way, when I needed to.had to service it once only.
i sold my Maruti 800 and the horn went with it. Didnt know that now,I couldnt find Hella Red Grill originals in the market now.

I have the same question too!I had Hella Red Grill for last 4 years, were in love with them absolutely. But sold my car,and the horns went with them, because I thought that I would get a brand new set now for my new car.Only imitations are available in the market, that too at a higher price.Have listened to all horns in Stebel website, few are really nice, but I have three questions now

1)Are the Nautiluses louder than Hella Red Grills?
2)Are the Nautiluses available in Kolkata?(Please any Kolkata member can help me?
3)Separate relays are a must for any horns, but would the nautiluses fit with roots relay?

Any suggestions/advice from anybody most welcome!!Pm me too!!

Thanks a ton Amit!I had an entire day search today for availability of Stebel Nautilus in Kolkata, none has it .Seen one Hella Red grill in one store, owner claims that it is original. What should I do?
Is it possible to fit Hella Red Grill in Zen Estilo Engine bay(space is a premium here)? Is it possible to fit the Red Grill with a changeover switch in dash for the factory fitted one and separately fit Stebel Nautilus Brio with another switch?(Yep! a pair of Hella Red Grill,a pair of Stebel and a lone original!)

Hi amit_mechengg and others,

I got my Stebel Magnums fitted in my Aveo by my local GM dealer. However, I noted that the sound is a bit 'flat' and muffled. It DOES sound like the Octavia/Optra horns but doesn't seem to project the sound enough.

There could be 2 reasons for this.

One is that it was fitted behind the front bumpers and hence the sound doesn't really project like the stock horns (fitted behind the front grill). We tried the front grill area but there is simply no space for 'fat' horns like the Magnums. Also I felt that fitting them in the engine bay will make the sound too loud in the car itself.

The second is that the installer used the Nautilus relay saying that it is good enough. Should I have got him to buy and install a Roots/PMP relay and can this be the reason behind the 'flat' sound? Are the horns not getting the requisite current?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

sorry man. havent heard magnums. but i dont think the sound should be muffled. either the mounting is wrong or the wiring (current). fit a gud relay, will come around 150 rs-200 rs and try.

i have installed stebel nautilus, twin compact motor horns. they sound amazing. the nose should be pointing toward the ground and not towards front. and try to listen to the horns from outside the car. ask someone else to blow the horn and then judge.

the nautilus is way louder than skoda horn.

I have a silly wolf/dog horn installed with a separate red button just for it.

Its my auto-rickshaw horn. also used on cyclist and bikes who refuse to move from the center of the road.

diesel fan check out the pictures i had posted earlier on the same thread, my swift horn install, you can get yourself a pair of roots windtones the base or least costing model from roots and install it in the same location as i did install my stebel nautilus, its safe there away from water and will work longer.

you dont have to go through the trouble of removing and reinstalling the bumper.

Nah, it's not that one. I have seen it on so many cars, and even on bikes in Delhi.

Will try to find and post a picture.
