Yesterday I fitted original Hella Red Grill in my Estilo at last
I was searching them for a month now,and was also searching for the Nautilus. But none of the Kolkata stores could get me the Nautilus.Even they tried looking for it in Delhi and Mumbai but apparently, the Nautiluses are out of stock there too. That made me decide upon Red grill.

I auditioned the much cheaper (Rs 500 ) Indian version of the Red grill which comes in a Hella packing. The 'sound' was crap. Then I auditioned the original Hella. It was awesome. It took about 2 hrs to get it fitted.

The cost was as follows:

Hella Red Grill (original) -Rs 1600
Roots horn relay -Rs 80
Changeover switch, wiring & custom made clamp -Rs 150
Labour -Rs 50

Total = Rs 1880 ( I paid him Rs 1800 )

The experience-after :

Me and my better half had gone to a party last night. While returning from it,she told me I was nuts when I started honking below all the flyovers. The sound is simply mind blowing.Later a bike was honking at me from the back.I let it pass and saw a couple on it driving like crazy.I started honking at them as soon as it passed me.The girl riding the pillion had a incredulous look on her face and they stopped at the side and let me go!!

After thoughts:

I know this has been expensive, but it is worth every penny.Especially when you have to deal with pesky auto drivers and silly bus drivers on pathetic kolkata roads.

I know prices are on the higher side mate.
But you dont get a Hella Red grill these days even for very high price. No chance.I searched the entire market, both in Kolkata and other places.

I had same Red Grill in my previous car, which cost me Rs 1200!!

By the way,i have 2 questions for you buddy.
1)How much was your Hella Red grill cost(including fitting & everything) ?
2)You have Stebel Nautilus compact.Where did you get them from? What was the cost?Would it be possible to get one for me?

Thanks again.

IIRC I got mine for about Rs 850. Fitting was Rs 50.
Dad's in the business, so I know my sources.

I got them for Rs 650, again from Kashmere Gate, some importer we know.
I am against it, they are imported, no warranty, can not be repaired and you never know how long they last, it can be a month or a lifetime.

101% guaranteed genuine.

No JK. The sound is coming from the speakers when the horn is pressed.

Bottle - Get it checked. What relay do you have currently?

If the roots relay is causing no problems then stay with it. What is the need for getting a "better" relay? Roots is pretty good too.

@bottle, why did you need to change the relays along with the horn? I am using the windtone on my Lancer as well.

The bosch ones got flooded when the car waded through a river and I changed them with the windtones.

Sorry guys maybe I wasnt clear. After fitting my aftermarket horn (roots windtone and since I wanted to retain the oem horn as well they used a relay i guess) I am getting a crack/pop noise from my speakers whenever I used the horn.

Since I am not too fond of the tone of the roots horn I was planning to replace it with something else soon so was wondering whether to change the relay too while changing the horn ? Actually am not even sure if the noise is from the relay but that is what the installer told me.

any guidance will be appreciated, cheers

Can you source them( the Stebel Nautilus Brio) for me please.See electronic items are quite a bit of luck. Its true that they may last a life-time or go kaput in a month.I am inclined to bet for them to last quite a bit.Atleast if you can get me all the details and method of how to procure them,I will be so thankful.

The price details that I have paid against what you have quoted looks a shame, but then again you have your 'source'.Thats why probably you got it so cheap, and secondly mate the original Red grill aren't available these days.Hella used to make them in Germany.Nowadays, they have stopped importing the original German products, rather they have got into some tie-up and make them here, which sadly doesnt sound like the originals.I auditioned both before I actually bought them.

Thanks.

Found out the latest price today. Stebel Nautilus Compact - Rs 600 and the Hella Red Grill for Rs 900.

No offence buddy but the Hella Red Grill I am talking about are Imported German horns. I know which horns are made where and who sells what atleast in my part of the country. We have dealt in horns and light bulbs for over 3 decades.

I can't guarantee the life of a product but can certainly guarantee the genuine-ness of them being imported/authentic/German horns. I can make you audition atleast 4 Hella Red grills made in different places.

I'll find out about the Brio, give me a couple of days.

Thanks a ton for the latest price quote buddy and sincerely no offense taken at all.Prices here in Kolkata are bit on the higher side, and even considering that,I have been ripped pretty badly. But I had no choice, the darn thing was not available here in Kolkata.Just my luck that I met you here a little late!!

The thing I have fitted is original imported German product.I know, cause I had it in my previous car too.

Please do find out about the Brio compact and whether you can get it for me.Thanks a lot.

Congrats buddy!!got the horns yesterday, I opted for a) Stebel Magnum for city and Hella Red grill for the highways. And oh yeah the way it blew away the auto drivers, was a spectacle. Am speechless and was smirking when the vandals were swearing at me for the awesum horns.

Total I spent :1300/= Hella
600/= Stebel
100/= In totality for installation.
