Guys,
Is there a special reason, why anyone should upgrade the horns?
I somehow do not like the existence of this thread. :-(

Thanks. I went and got me a pair. I'm impressed by these horns, sounds deep and powerful, makes an impact. Had used Roots Vibrasonic and Hella Redgrill (on Bullet) before wanted to try another brand this time. MRP for a set is Rs.1638/-

Wiring was done by a very good electrician at Thampi's garage, he did it very well using good quality auto grade wire and pulled them through sleeves. He did the horn wiring work in my AStar too an year ago.

Btw the OEM horns in my Swift is a pair of black Hella horns.

Hey, thanks for the response.

Can you suggest a relay and also where can I get these horns if not on EBay?

My mechanic has tried tuning the horn several times. It works for a day or two & then gives up. The last time it made the good horn give up as well. Thanks for the info re the horns. I will probably get the Bosch Symphony.

1. Because there are deaf imbecile people and animals on the road ...
2. Because the only other way to voice your concerns is to come out of the vehicle and walk towards the offender - which might be construed as act of hostile aggression compared to simply blowing the horn
3. Because a verbal altercation above can soon turn into "fists/kicks of fury"

I am sure you are also opposed to India becoming a nuclear power.

Sorry, you do have your reasons. You justified them well.
Stock horns are fine with me, as of now and will be forever.
I choose not to add to already existing and increasing noise pollution.
You have the liberty to choose otherwise.
Sorry for barging in. Checking out.

I just took the bait, so my apologies for the OT. I agree with SupratikDebnath. If people are not deaf already, just honk at em with your power horns. That should remedy the situation. Weird are the vehicle laws. Lets ban sun film, not power horns.

Usage of power horns inside municipal limits is already banned.
(Sun films were also always banned - just that Courtus Supremus decided to crack down the whip)

I replaced my Swift OE Hellas with Roots Windtone. Though the sound is more pleasing than stock Hellas but don't find any major difference in the effectiveness in Chennai traffic. Even wonder if Roots windtone should be considered a *power horn* or is it just a good OE grade horn?

Sorry, I only know of how to get them in Delhi-NCR. Hyderabad members should be able to confirm regarding local shops.

Online prices are much higher than actual retail prices.

Glad to know that you tried to get the old horn to work before discarding/changing it. Most are not aware that horns just go 'out of tune' and can be restored.

Chennai folks ignore even train hoots,we use just car horns.I have also noticed that in Chennai, the more u honk, the more time its gonna take for the traffic/2 wheeler wala ahead to clear.

That is so true. I have been driving with a busted horn for the past 6 months and I know how these fellows get on my nerve.
You just can't drive without a horn and more the power more the merrier in Chennai.
Come on, and intermittent noise pollution better than having a stressed heart attack.

So HELLA red grill is what my car getting today. Let me get back on its review.

1.5k for the Nautilus seems to be a bit fair at the moment given it's unavailability.
However, be aware that it's got a very unpredictable life span!
