Mobil Delvac 1 might be a good choice, Maruti uses Mobil Delvac MX which is Mobil Delvac 1300 if am not mistaken, and that is the one am referring to as mineral oil.

Mobil and their nominclature lol

No they are not the same.
These are 2 different oils
Mobil 1300 Super and Mobil MX show different characteristics at different temperatures
Mobil Delvac 1300 Super
Mobil Delvac MX Extra 15W-40

Both meet API-CI4 specifications, but 1300 super is more geared towards passenger cars, MX can also be used there, but if you are doing stuff like towing or heavy goods carrying MX is better.

Also please not that Mobil 1300 Super and 1300 is different. 1300 is API-CF4 while 1300 super is API-CI4

Can i conclude that a logical synthetic upgrade for Mobil Delavac MX is Mobile Delavac 1?

Yes sort of.
If you look at Viscosity figures, you will see the MX and Delvac are very similar at high temperatures, and at low temperatures the Delvac 1 Exceeds MX.
So in a cold start, Delvac 1 will protect your engine better.
If your engine overheats due to a fault, mineral oil will start degrading much sooner than synthetic. This is one of the biggest advantages of synthetics, they can stave of engine damage much longer than mineral oil in case of cooling system failure.

just found out -

mobil 1 5w50 costs 625 per litre. available in 1l cans. 7l needed rs4735. am sure i can push them to give it at a cheaper price if i buy 7l.

delvac 1 costs 650 per litre. available in 5l cans. so will have to buy 2 = rs6000 (giving 10l at 600 per litre). maybe i can get them to lower the price of that too.

If you are planning synthetic, go for DELVAC 1. Its just a little more in cost. Buy 2 cans, and you can use half of the remaining oil at the next change. Synthetic oil has very long expiry times.

10K is great. Infact you can do more too. The best judge of your engine oil's health is the texture. Many good mechanics feel the oil within their fingers and can tell when an oil has given up(I know its carcinogenic yadda yadda....). Its difficult in case of diesels since oil changes color to black very quickly.
Your Oil filter will also tell you the state of oil. I reckon if you are not into too much redlining, your delvac 1 should do 8000 miles easily.
I exceeds the specifications demanded by Innova's engine by leaps and bounds.

Friends,my SX4 has completed 10000km and awaiting its service. As always I change the engine oil in all my cars to Synthetic at the 10k mark. But when i was about to change the oil in SX4 through the User Manual I got to know that SX4 has one of the rarest oil grade i.e 5W30 .., Tavera is the other vehicle to have the same grade .In the market after searching about for a day i found only Mobil 1 5w40 grade oil close to it, can i use it in my vehicle.
