Default Motogp 800cc prototype info thread

hello bhpian's,
i have started this new thread so that all of us remain updated on motogp new 800cc prototype bikes that will compete in 2007onward for atleast next five year.....so any of u guy's receive, get...search..etc.etc. any news , update on new 800cc motogp bikes plz... list here...So, guy's i am starting this thread....

honda showed there new 800cc protoype model, just here is the link
http://www.crash.net/news_view~t~Honda-unveil--RC212V--~cid~6~id~139699.htm
according to some souces..ducati is way ahead in developing 800cc bikes...they have developed 20, 800cc engines having different specification , nature , charractersitics..etc.etc...but common desmodromic-valve-gear, for this 25 person team is divided into 5 small group...only two vehicle mfg co. ducati & merc have succesfully implemented desmodromic-valve-gear system .

honda: as we all know that RC211V was having 5 cyclinder in vertical , each cylinder having 200cubic capacity....total cc was thus 1000cc...so new RC212V 800cc bike was made by removing 1 cylinder from RC211V honda....rest of the mfg..including yam, kawa, ducati, etc..has made new engine from scratch.....

so, all in all progresswise ducati is at top at this time...but time will tell?

Hey devsus, nice upates.

I don't have any updates to add save for the fact that Ducati actually had 40 different engine configurations for the 800cc engines. So, though it is commonly accepted that theoretically Honda will get rid of the passenger cylinder (the 5th cylinder) to reduce the engine size to 792 cc, it is still hard to say until next year. Or maybe the secretive way in which Honda & Yamaha work, it might even be never.

What is Barros doing astride D'Antin Ducati when he had such a good ride with XTreme Honda on WSBK last year? We all know how good the satellite Ducati team is...

"When we started development of the 800cc machine, effectively the 'second generation' of Honda MotoGP bike, we gave top priority to the pursuit of excellent handling and drivability," explained Takanori Okuma, the Honda R&D RC212V project leader. "For the newly-reduced engine capacity of 800cc, we decided a V4 was the most efficient layout. Rather than focusing solely on top end power, we also concentrated on producing good power delivery characteristics, which can have a significant effect on lap times. Using enhanced control systems, the result is an engine with good drivability in the low and mid ranges, and excellent power under acceleration when the engine is at the top of its range.
"On the chassis side, we further enhanced the 'mass concentration' package developed for the RC211V to improve the agility and quick handling characteristics of the bike," he continued. "The outward appearance is aggressive and appropriately innovative for a new generation of bike, affording both drivability and aerodynamic efficiency. We will continue to evolve the bike before the season opener and throughout next season."
