Just got an email about karun being called to the Red Bull Racing Formula One team to test for them over two days at the Circuito de Catalunya in Barcelona on the 13th and 14th of November

This is great news. Wonder whats next. Hope he does get to drive for Redbull - Question is - who will be dropped then?

Lets see what the outcome is. IIRC there are a lot of drivers who are called for testing and based on their test results (along with a host of other parameters.. im sure) the choice is made.

Good question there. This is what the article on Formula1.com states: "Chandhok, 23, from Madras, will be standing in for regular tester Sebastien Buemi, who is competing in the Macau Formula Three race." So guess he will be standing in for the test driver position.

Agree with you. Cuz Malya said Indian driver is not a must, I think thats just to keep things under cover. Coultard may retire by the end of next season, so Chandok can slip in, incase he gets the Test seat.

I think after his test drive , he will be in Force India team as Vijay Mallya and Chandok Senior share a good friendship and rapport. Its nice to see another Indian fit in the F-1 gear and truly with age on his side ,I feel he is a bit lucky than Karthikeyan and may BE Arman Ebrahim will soon be in a F-1 car if not now. Great Going India...Keep it up

I think that taking him on as a test driver may be a good move. Would give him some exposure to the F1 and get him acclimatised to the rigours of the highest level.

other than finland,brasil and germany i dont think any country has 2 people in f1 be it india now as karthikeyan and chandok are in.

Technically they not in as Drivers. just test drivers.... but we getting there.

I doubt Karun would be part of Force India this year.

I'm thinking Ralf Schumacher and Narain Karthikeyan might join Force India as the new team will need drivers with F1 experience to setup the car. Without that critical input, no amount of cash and wind tunnel access would matter!

Karun can start off testing for Force India in a couple of years after he gains valuable experience elsewhere.
