OK, This is my last set of pics. Included are pics of the hotel entrance and the bar we ended the evening at.Hope i got everyone and all the cars. I normally don't post pics, but Saturday's event was nice and more importantly, kept me thinking about the possibilities of a larger meet. Maybe?...

Had awesome fun at the track day (i can't stop grin on my face)

I thot i will not push my car much on the track but after first 2-3 laps it was redlining all the way, reached the revlimiter on 2nd gear endless times
everytime after revlimiter hits i wud thot oops have to shift to 3rd hehe. did 7-8 laps at a stretch no signs of over heating or anything, i was very worried about this but thoroughout the track-day, temp were just below middle of temp gauge which normal for palio.

i was timed around 2.35secs but it can improve a lot as on that lap bottle on the passanger seat and we where trying all the stunts on the corner lol. Mid corner lift-off drift was real fun tried it many times, also tried using hand brake in one turn for drift but it was way too scary didn't tried it again. also thanks to mclaren(Rahul) for showing us the correct lines across the track, actually i was taking the same lines but while existing the corners i wasn't going wide enough. some times car really felt underpowered and 3rd gear is too high which was big problem. but still we went to enjoy the track and we did

i did around 163kms on the track so it was lot of laps. Consumed little less than half tank of fuel which is around 22-23ltrs. i don't believe i am typing this but palio was more fuel efficient than cedia on track haha,

also in the process i almost ruined my front left tyre :( the thread has became weird, just check the pics on flickr and you will get a idea, well the side wall of that tyre is totally gone. i have rotated that tyre to the back, will change it after sometime. but these tyres have lots of grip, they just refuse to slide. and too my surprise car was not understeering at all, never went off-track not even a inch and believe me i was pusing the car like crazy. one thing i have understand is driving car on track really exhaustive, my whole body was paining yesterday specially hands, belive me you will give up long before the car does hehe.

it was also very nice to meet all the T-BHP members, sorry didn't join you guys for drinks and lunch because we had some other plans. next time guys.

at last all i can say that i love my car even more now

Nothing..nothing can run him over..LOL Why damage your vehicle trying some things that are NOT possible.. He is ubiquitous..

What we could do instead is party/dance in his mobile bar..Its got something called ICE too..and can ferry around 8-9 people in comfort..

Ishan, welcome this side of town - attractions - A brand new Tata Safari Dicor with a sober driver is our new bar on wheels..pictures will be posted later as we are seeking permission from his highness.

It was an afternoon well spent. Would have been better if the turnout was more. Anyway...

@rahulkool, you were (or whoever was driving your Palio) really having fun on the car, ripping her like no one's business. And after all the tyre-squeal I heard, I am not surprised your tyre is having issues. Anyway, what matters is to have fun and am sure you did.

And I hope my point about stock modern cars (European, American, Jap or Somalian) not having issues with a few hundred kms on the track is vindicated, Chennai summer or otherwise.

Thanks to the Blore guys for coming down - it was nice meeting you all. The Cedia was awesome and so were the Elantra, Palio1.2, Palio1.6, Alto, M800. And ofcourse the best was the Gypsy which inspite of its C.G., low power etc was ripping the track like there is no tomorrow.

And BTW, nice pics neoranjit, ajo, vince & nickatnite.

So here come the first set of my snaps :

1. The lengths some guys have to go to to persuade people to pose for a snap. The expression of neoranjit's face is just great.


2. For a snap, ajo kuch bhi karega - the chennai sun be damned.


3. We had some unusual spectators too at the track - a little shy of the paparazzi though.


4. While we were having fun burning fuel, there were some on the campus who were worrying about more mundane things like roti, kapda and makaan - the other side of India Shining.


OK, enough of non-car stuff. Coming to the cars & track snaps, this was a big learning experience for me. I learnt that while it looks so easy when you look at tifosi's track snaps, the reality is different when you venture out to take similar snaps.

So, moral of the story for me : Stick to people, animals and nature as subjects and don't bother sweating to take snaps of cars in action.

5. Starting off with the big tyre, which has always fascinated me.
