Had 2 SMSes from IMMC this morning.

First one saying that Common F1 Marshal Induction programs have started in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Madras and that I could attend the session in any city without repeating.

Second message had details of Delhi program on 23 and 24 April at 11am and repeat at 3pm. Can choose any one slot.

Its too late now to attend Delhi program. Looking forward to Bangalore Program.

Got a sms just now stating that the session in Mumbai is planned for 30th April and the one for Bangalore is on 1st May 2011 and they would be SMS'ing the details about the locations. Two sessions planned for Bombay, one at 11:00 AM and one at 3:00 PM on 30th April.

Can wait for this one

I guess its a single session of 2 hours and a repeat at 3:00PM.
One can also bring in any non registered volunteers if they are interested.

I got the SMS for Bangalore and Mumbai too. I will be attending the Bangalore session on 1 May. Duration 2 hours. The messages do not require a reply.

EDIT: Planning to attend the 11:00am session. Looking forward to the feedback from Delhi program. Anyone from Hyderabad intending to attend the Program? We all could go as a group. I and my friend are planning to fly down on Sunday morning and return in the evening.

Question Re: Want to be a Track Marshall at the Indian F1 GP? EDIT: Now closed.

Is there any way to still sign up for the next session in Delhi on 23rd or 24th at this point?
From what I understand if we haven't signed up on immc.in by 31st Jan then that's it. Wish I had seen this earlier!

Looking forward to meeting the Mumbai crew on the 30th...

I'm just a bit concerned that they're asking us to bring a Pen. Considering the importance of the role of a Marshal for ensuring a successful Grand Prix I am surprised that they are putting too much weight behind the "novelty" of the marshal experience. I would have expected a little bit in return for the effort...at least a pen and a pad to write on if nothing else

The pen was the mighty object at the last session in Delhi. people walked in empty handed expecting to be provided everything. But then this is a voluntary event and the budget for these things seems to be low. The pen was the rarest item at the end of the presentation when they asked for the forms to be filled. I carried one and never saw it again.

They expect the marshals to carry their own food and water during the races and probably building on the things to come already.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

I am going to attend on 30th and confirm this but if they confirm that I have to bring my own food and water to the races then I am going to sit this one out and let some other enthusiast have a shot at this.

I am Sorry - there is a professional way and then there is this. What is the point in putting up a mega show to the world that "India as arrived" when the reality is that they are mooching off a few enthusiasts. I'm not willing to let myself be treated like this. Even marshals at local Go-Kart races get food and water packets. I was treated like royalty at The Palar Challenge (a local off-roading event where I was a Marshall).

Cutting corners with Marshals is clearly only the tip of the iceberg...imagine where else corners are being cut?

Maybe I am too old and expect to be given respect...I guess they can't afford to do that.

Yes, we can still apply! I just did it now.

Guys, I have a query. I wear spectacles as I'm myopic. So I'm wondering if they'll consider my application? I guess I'll have to wait and watch.
