The strategy for a new brand seems to be good. Pulsar is there for generations and seems little boring now though I am still a huge fan of it. It did to bikes what OHC did to cars - created loyal following of performance lovers.

Nevertheless, new premium performance brand Kratos - big thumbs up from me!!!

Latest Pic of the Bajaj KRATOS
A Power Cruiser that one can stand on as well..!!

It has been sometime since design of a motorcycle made my heart skip a beat.
This one does exactly that KRATOS (#DesiMuscle)

Interesting, no ABS ring on this one.

That looks like Kartikeya Singhee from Autocar in the picture.

PS: That is not really standing on the bike.

Agreed. Not exactly "Adventure" like standing position.

But still compared to the Tradition Classic Cruiser like "feet forward" position, little bit amount of standing looks possible.

Needs straighter and higher handle bars to stand.

No thoughts about the missing ABS rings? A VS200 variant perhaps

It not an Adventure bike... let them not try to mess it up and make one.

Highly unlikely.. the 200 and 373 engine blocks/platforms are different.. a 200 variant would mean addition expense.. would defeat the purpose.

However the a 250 cc variant based on the same 373 cc platform is currently doing its duty in the form of 250 Duke / RC 250 in some countries.

Still putting two separate variants based on engine cc means twice the complications/inventory/increase in the number of SKU (stock keeping units).

On a bike that is not expected to bring in huge numbers, its better to keep things simple (with variants based on addtion / removal of features like ABS, LED Headlamps, Color options etc.)

The bike pictures in post 362 has a much bigger front disk, so are there 2 variants as rumoured - one high power version with ABS and the one with lower power and no ABS ?

Even the exhaust shield and engine are black in post 362 as compared to this one.

Maybe my eyes are giving up, but I am not able to see the difference in the size of the two disc rotors (if there is any!!).

IMHO, the whole two variants thing with one being higher powered than the other makes no sense at all. They are just self cannibalising their own product, its a higher segment bike and should not have a lower spec variant. <History lesson time> Case in point, TVS Apache 150 was launched with two variants back in the day, one with discs and one with drum brakes. Those times were different and the low spec version barely sold as compared to the higher spec variant. If BAL really wants to position this as a premium product, they need to have a single all bells and whistles product. I don't think at this price point, a 10K price difference would matter so much.

But if they do go the multiple variant way, then we need to see how is the Apache RTR 200 doing with its multiple variants. Even though its a lower segment, it would be interesting to see the difference in number across the Non-ABS, ABS, ABS+Pirelli combos.

Super bright for a DRL, can't wait to see the low and high beam performance throw at night.

I hope they give this a proper sized tank capacity if they really want to pitch this against the RE as a touring king/god/whatever. I guess this is one of the last unknown spec for it right now.

Yup. If they can match the tank capacity of the current 220F it would be more than sufficient. I can fill 18 litres as soon as i hit reserve on my 180UG3. Guess all the pulsar with the 220esque tank have the same capacity. Gives me a super range of 500+ kms even with hard ripping.

The Pulsar 220Fi (pre 220F/220 Dtsi generation) was rated at 15L (mentioned quite clearly in the book), but I have routinely filled more than 15L. Of course there are issues of meter calibration at bunks as well

But that's besides the point, I agree with you completely. At the end of the day, if the bike is meant to be a tourer it better offer a decent tank to tank range. And my personal definition of decent would be anything upwards of 400Kms on a tank full is fine, more the merrier. Presently, I get a 'safe' range of at least 500Kms on the 220Fi. On some occasions, I've managed to even do 600+.

So anything that doesn't need me looking for a bunk every 150-180 kms would do just fine, on really long solo rides I prefer taking breaks with every fuel stop and not the other way round.

For the "aam janata", Tank Capacity is not the real reason why RE's (Classic 350/500) sell.

It's how they (the RE's) Look/Appear/Sound/Stand Apart from the Rest of the Commuter Class - that makes them sell. Do't think Mr. Bajaj exactly wants a Touring King / God on the road... what he want's is a model that can take a slice out of the RE Clientele.

For the Record:

>> RE Classic 350/500 (the Hot selling RE model), Bullet 350/500 and the C-GT gets a 13.5 Lts Fuel Tank

>> The Himalayan gets a 15.5 Lts Fuel Tank

>> The Thunderbird 350/500 do get a 20 Lts Tank
