Not to offend anyone by posting this link.

Now this is a more realistic view!

Guys,

Anybody has any feedback from the Orange Day in Mumbai?

Some posts on xbhp suggest that one of their members got the info from KTM guys that it will take the another 5-6 months to roll out the Duke 390. Any info from credible sources?

Rather not info from the KTM guys, it was Mr. Amit Nandi (KTM India Head) who mentioned during his stage speech that the bike is still 3-4 months away. Also he confirmed that a 250cc version of the RC8 has also been planned, and there will be no 125cc motorcycle KTM as a 125 would be a 'Kids bike'

Fantastic! So, all fundas of life cleared at one go

The product Range as confirmed now:

1. KTM Duke 200 --> 200 cc, 25 bhp, existing
2. KTM Duke 390 --> 375cc, 44 bhp, coming next in 4-6 months.
3. KTM RC 8 based 250 cc --> 250 cc, expected 35 bhp?, next 1 year.

Even if the bike gets launched in Sep-Oct now, I'll buy it after the Auto Expo in Jan, 2014. Also, since the fully faired version is a 250 cc, I am not interested in it anymore. I am looking at 400-500 cc bikes now and the only one that will be available soon will be D 390. So, that's the one that'll make it to my garage. Done deal!

Guys, any idea on the acceleration figures of the D390? I know we had a lengthy discussion over the top speed not so long ago. But there is nothing available anywhere on the net since nobody has really tested the bike yet. Any idea over what could be the 0-100 timings?

PS: I feel they may display the 250 cc fully faired version in the Auto expo

No official timeline was declared for the RC250, but if I have to disclose- the 390 launch is much earlier than what was stated. Now pls don't ask me the source of this

Abhi, nowhere have I heard that the 250 is either "RC8 based" or in any way even remotely linked to the RC8. All that is a clear is that the fully faired KTM we will be getting is a 250 cc. No idea even whether its a different engine platform or a bored-out Duke 200 motor.

Also, 35 bhp? Is this a guesstimate or have you seen this from somewhere? Would be a direct threat to the Ninja 300 is such case.

Doc, I can recollect Mr. Nandi mentioning the RC8 while making a statement on the 250cc variant

Then that is earth shattering jaw numbing news bro. The RC8 engine (even compared to the lovely baby Duke motor) is from a different planet.

If I remember correctly, I heard SP say that a while ago. But then at that time they had the 33 bhp license under norm then. He was apparently targeting the customer base under that license restriction. I don't know if that's done away with now or they companies just targeting the license restriction (47 bhp) with higher displacement. I don't even know if they have stuck to those plans or the 250 cc plans have evolved since then. So, yes, a guesstimate at best.

Either way, I am not looking at any 250cc anymore. I am looking at the burgeoning (internationally) 300-500 cc (or if a lower capacity engine can give me more power) segment. I basically aspire to own something close to 50 bhp stuff now. So, the very fact that its 250 cc, rules it out for me.

Anyway, any 'guesstimate' over the acceleration figures of the D390?

Well your guess can be right too. A miniature setup of the RC8 with a bored motor of the Duke- still would be a pretty good bike

I am with you on your though process. No replacement for displacement! + the excess plastic and backside in air riding position is also putting me off.

Any "don't ask the source" news on the enduro/adventure version of the Duke 390 please?

Hi All,

There's a KTM stall in DLF, Chennai with KTM 200 for demo.
I have spoken to Bussiness Devplopment Manager, KTM and as per him, KTM 390 will be launched by June and price will be around 2.25 Lakhs and at the start itself there's some 6 months waiting period.
He himself driven the test KTM 390 bike @ Pune Factory and he has given me a very positive Feedback and asked me to wait for 390.
Let's wait for some more months to get the real vitals of 390.
