Owes to the fact that 390 is Incredibly light and probably that the N650 is a tourer.

Also, I believe the 390 is a twin cylinder?

N650 takes ~4Sec to reach 100. So N650 is faster. Remember that it depends on rider's skill. I have read some people quoting 3.8 Sec on N650.

Duke 390 has a single cylinder engine.

It seems there was a Press Launch/Media Preview of the KTM Duke 390 in Austria on 9th of April!!

Line-up for the KTM Duke 390 Press Launch!!

Notice the first bike is different. I guess it shows all the accessories KTM can provide with the 390 as power parts. Stickers, Crash guard, Crash bobbin, Seat cowl, Wind Shield, Hand guard, Black alloys ? etc..

And now the reviews have come online!!

http://www.1000ps.at/testbericht-2357096-KTM_390_Duke

http://www.motociclismo.it/ktm-390-d...medium=twitter

http://de.auto.de/magazin/showarticl...medium=twitter

- Duke 390 goes easily to 160 kms/hr, and tops at 171 kms/hr.
- bigger windshield is an extra part and is recommended.
- 30 kms/l on average.
- The compromise between comfort and stability is impressive.
- Seat is 1 cm lower than Duke Duke 200, peak power at 9500 rpm, rev limiter is at 10,500 rpm.

CONCLUSION (By 1000 ps) (Google Translated)

The KTM 390 Duke is a really good good compromise between sportiness, reason, ride comfort, fun and value. The best part: It feels not at all to compromise on! Quite clear recommendation of the editorial 1000 hp!!

"I told you so" never sounded so bad or supremely depressing.

What caught my attention a lot more in Praful's video than the sound or the expected acceleration through the gears.

I would pay to get that, even at KTM Power Part exorbitant rates. Even for fitting on to my baby 200.

hmm...Another short geared duke? In that case, I would expect much better in-gear acceleration.

Duke 200 seems to be too short geared (or do I say CBR250R is optimally geared for acceleration vs. top speed). Same goes with D390?

Love the first bike with all power parts and that is the one I want . But I am confused as to how wheel colors are also part of the power parts config. Do we have to buy new alloys to get the black colored ones?

Yup for the 390 the black alloys would be a Power Part!

Yikes! Noooo! Don't tell me I have to buy the bike with those hideous (my humble opinion) orange wheels and then spend extra to just get basic, sober black!

Hope that changes and they introduce a black 390 or something down the line, like they did with the black Duke 200. All that orange and white is too much for me!

I can relate to that feeling mate. I was apprehensive when I went to buy my duke, only because of the bright orange. But somehow the color just grew on me, and now I love it .

I do think that they should offer a regular black or white color on the Duke 390, just like they did for the Duke 200, for those who don't want to feel like the center of attention on the road.

But I'll tell you this, with that bright orange, you can love it or hate, but you just can't ignore it

I am confused on this one. Though most of the bikes seen seem to be with the
Orange alloys (I actually like them; primarily coz it helps distinguish it from D200). Moreover, I don't think it's making the bike look bhaiiya chap! Having said that, I am cool with black alloys too as they look good with power parts stickering.

Hey Doc, are you sure about the orange alloys as standard part..?

But how else will you shout out to the world that you are 16?

Not sure yet. I'm ok with anything frankly. Except maybe parrot green or mauve/purple.

That said, as per the video the 390 does it in about 5 seconds. But I think it can do it a bit faster, there was a mis-shift @ 80 Kmph and also the rider was a bit late in shifting. The duke does not have to be revved to the moon to get the quickest acceleration.

Lovely road man. Love to see him bounce off the limiter even in each higher gear. How rarely we get to do it here.

Me wants that wind shield ..... but in clear acrylic preferably.

Cant wait now man .....
