I know a certain somebody who was kind enough to send me the bike, although it was heavily clad with camouflage, and the ride itself was very strictly a short one so all I could gauge was the initial impressions.

Like I said, the pickup is mind blowing, something you wouldn't expect at all. The overall build quality is good, the tires grip like glue. The throttle response is immediate & accurate & the chassis is very taut. Overall KTM has done a fantastic job on the 390 Duke, the pricing expected at 2.50 lakhs INR is good for the package offered.

Oh yes, and the bike does feel larger than the 200 Duke, but only marginally.

Thanks for the initial impression!! Did you get to notice the pillion seat? Is it the same as the 200?

Honestly, I did not. I was too busy getting impressed with the engine & the power delivery.
I have never been comfortable riding with a pillion, so never check out the pillion seat.

I visited the other KTM dealership in Hyderabad today. They have displayed the brochure on the notice board and expect the launch to be before the end of this month. Not sure about the deliveries though.

While I was there did a Test drive of the 200 again. Seating is very comfortable. Pillion is manageable for short rides. With 200 pickup itself you feel the need to hold the driver. With 390 I am sure pillion seat will need a seat belt to stay on the bike

After going through this thread and other duke threads over the past couple of days, my decision to buy this is feeling good. I am sure the bike will live upto my expectations as long as I forget about the pillion. I was surprised to see mileage just a couple of kmpl less than 200. I will be extremely pleased if this happens. Decent tank range then.

RC8 and Ninja 300 was on Display in the store. While going through Ninja specs vs 390 I was surprised to see that Ninja was less on both power and torque. Although top end for the Ninja is a cool 190 kmph. For mainly city riding the dealer was recommending a 390 over the Ninja. By the way if anyone is looking for immediate delivery of Ninja 300. they have one in green color. Costs a little shy of Rs 4 Lakhs here in Hyderabad.

Is launch of 390 getting delayed due to approval issues from RTO. When I called the dealer, they are now not sure about the launch. Anyone heard such news?

I saw few reviews mentioning about "some" vibrations on D390. I am wondering how good/bad they would be. I would hate to have sore wrist and numb fingers after a long drive.

Does anyone here has first hand experience or has greater insight into it?

Hey!

I just got back from KTM, Indiranagar - Bangalore.I was told deliveries of the D390 will start from July with bookings opening next month.

Also a Bangalore OTR of 2.7-2.8 lakhs.

No info on what's holding them up. Put down my name to have him let me know when they do start bookings

Also asked about the 200 ABS, he seemed to not know of an ABS version of the bike. When I told him about the info being there on their website he said if it's there it should become available. I was actually more keen on this rather on the 390, really don't need that much power on tap when 75% of my rides are in Bangalore city traffic and also the extra dough I'd have to cough up

2 N300 deliveries have been made as well (bookings made almost 3 months ago). One in green and one in white in case anyone happens to chance upon them!

Cheers!

This is what i heard. A friends colleague works at Bosch, bangalore, and according to him, there seems to be some issues/bugs with the technology that bosch is developing for bajaj/ktm, which is is delaying the launch.

There were rumors going around on xBhp that the 390 would be on display\revealed at the Chennai Auto Expo. Just came back from there and Bajaj was not present.

And that's because everyone saw the 25th being marked in red in the KTM calendar of the month. What didn't help was that was the only day marked in red, as well as the 390 being the cover picture with the announcement coming soon. And the fact that 25th May is the Chennai auto show. So everyone put 2 and 2 together to equal 390.

What people didn't know was that today's Buddha Purnima and is an observed holiday in many places! That was why it was marked in red. And not because of the 390 launch.

Singapore Price:
KTM 200 ~ 4.65 L INR
KTM 390 ~ 5.25 L INR

That is around 13% over KTM 200. Good sign?
