I am just curious to know how are they managing the new engine into frame. Are they just going to fix the 390 engine into 200 frame ?. Or take the 200 bike ,engineer the whole bike X 1.5-1.8 times more stronger(read ,tyres ,brakes ,suspension, frame ,..) ? .

It might be possible to plonk the 375 in the current frame. Although a tight squeeze, they might have to re-route the exhaust from under the case or around the trellis. But then I dont think they'd do this as everything else needs to be bigger, like the air box, fuel tank, starter motor...etc. I am guessing they'd widen the frame to attain the necessary clearance. Everything depends on whether its going to be an all new unit or just a over-bored version of the 200.

Most foreign experts agree that the Duke 200 is overengineered for a bike that produces just 26 bhp. I do not think any radical makeover is really required to take a motor that pumps out 20 odd bhp more. Nothing that cannot be managed by tweaking the current setup that is.

God Bless Bajaj for fast forwarding us from the painful 20s straight into the glorious 40s without having to go through 274 iterations over the next 5-10 years across the painful 30s in increments of 1 and 2 bhp each time.

Kudos! (my money is in my hands, shortest route to Pro-Biking charted out in advance)

Also can't help wondering how bike tech has advanced from the days of the RD350, when a race derived 2 stroke parallel twin of the same capacity (350 cc) developed 28-32 bhp.

Today we have a ready to race 4 stroke single of the same capacity that will produce 50% more power!

Still! Worth the price IMHO. Eagerly waiting. Kudos to Bajaj if this is for real.

Err.. I'm afraid that might not be possible as even their flagship Duke (990) doesn't have ABS as an option, IIRC.

I agree. Maybe a wee bit longer wheelbase and a tad larger frame. Everything else looks ready to take on the added horses.

one bike does not suit everyone . You can also mod it little bit for big gains at factor of cost .Just a modded seat for few hundred rupees will do the work . But most of the them want it out of showroom , which will not be case most of the times .

BTW who told you 200 is not a good tourer

Duke 690 does have ABS however. Its part of its standard equipment.

300BHP/Ton is an awesome figure for a bike which could cost 2 to 2.2L
Duke 390 will be common man's super bike. Good work Bajaj and KTM

wow, really?
I would love for the dimensions to be slightly bigger and for the pillion seat to be a meaningful one (like the Karizma).

I am pining for the Ninja 650 and I know it is total value for money, but can't afford that kinda money right now. A launch like this would see me rushing to the probiking showroom as fast as I can. 2.5 lakhs (Bangalore OTR, am guessing) as opposed to 5.8 lakhs is a lot of money saved and not too much fun compromised.
