Default Road Trip: In Southern Calif.

My VFR got new shoes yesterday, and I took it out for a spin today. It was a 330 miles ((528kms) round trip to Joshua Tree National Park from SD. I managed to snap a few pics to share.

Great day at the park.

The main attraction- Joshua tree, and ofcourse the VFR

Another random pic.

On my way back, it was windy like hell, the windmills make a good pic, but wind sucks!

The premium gas at Joshua was almost $4 ... ouch!

The VFR has a V4 VTEC engine.

I did this trip as a precursor to my grand trip coming up in the next couple weeks. I had to break in my boots, and suit. I am going on a 10 day trip of the west coast from May 19th. All along California coast, then into Oregon (Eureka, Crater lake), then into Sequoia and back to SD.

I plan my trips at the rate of 33 miles per hour, with a total time of 10 hours. Including all rest stops, picture stops, gas stops, bio breaks etc. The roads in the park are great, I think they were re-asphalted just a couple years back. I met a few guys on BMW touring bikes, and we had a little chat along with some coffee.

Other than a really windy patch by the wind mills, it was pretty nice day for riding.

Hey Prasadee,

Sounds like fun,
I must say that the colour of your bike and the background in the photos worked out very nicely!

Wait a second........ BAD13OY has multiple exotic cars - Ferraris and what not, and mine is a run of the mill used bike. There is no comparison of these machines.

In any case, I am glad you guys liked the pics. On a slightly unrelated note, I am really excited about my long trip coming up in a couple weeks.
Here's the Plan:
Friday May 19 - San Diego - LA/Woodland Hills ~150 mi
Saturday May 20 - LA - Monterey ~300 mi
Sunday May 21- Monterey - Sunnyvale ~150 mi
Monday May 22 - Sunnyvale - Eureka ~300 mi
Tuesday May 23 - Eureka - North Bend ~220 mi
Wednesday May 24 - NorthBend - Medford ~200 mi
Thursday May 25 - Medford - Crater Lake - Klamath Falls ~150 mi
Friday May 26 - Klamath Falls - Sacramento ~300 mi
Saturday May 27 - Sacramento - Sequoia - Bakersfield ~ 220 mi
Sunday May 29 - Bakersfield - San Diego ~ 230 mi

Preparation:
New full suit, boots, and gloves. (all Fieldsheer). I have had these for a month so that the break in period is over by this time.
New Pilot Road front and rear tires.
Oil Change, and Battery check.
Motopak Tank bag, and Tail pack
I may borrow a GPS, else I will use hard copies of maps.
I got road side assistance.
Shoei RF1000, not sure if the shipment will reach me by then.

This should be a great trip, and I should have a truck load of great pics.

I second that thought! Looking at your pictures and reading about your upcoming ride, I feel like a prisoner in a 4x4 cell looking out through the bars....

Are you riding a bike to SD? If you get a bike or rent a bike, let me know. We can go out riding together.

Damn, thats an enviable trip. I am going to be doing a 7 day trip in Southern California this summer. Buttttttttttttt, no exciting superbike. A boring Honda Pilot instead.

Thanks for sharing

Nhahahaaiicee....neat pics. I especially like the last one. The front of the VFR and those windmill rotors...aahhh...bliss...looks like you had a nice ride, prasadee...keep us updated with your future trips....

P.S- Don't you think $4 per gallon for 98 octane premium is worth the pleasure....?
