Default Re: Mahindra 2-Wheelers unveils its Centuro & Pantero bikes

What? Again? Noooo. Mahindra must realise that the Indian Two Wheeler Market has moved on by miles. And they are trying to sell bikes designed in the 1990's? What is that gold strip below the tank? bling bling. The worst designed motor cycle including specification in the history of motorcycle. When Suzuki could not sell the Sling Shot, Hayte even after Salman Khan endorsed them, Mahindra will have tough time to sell the bikes. It only shows how competitive our Two Wheeler Market has become.

And for Mojo, Jojo the game has moved own. With the Pulsar 200 NS in the 1,00,000 bracket and the Ninja 250 in the 3 Lakh bracket, and in between Yamaha R15, Honda CBR 150 / 250, Bullet, Mahindra will have a tough time. As Anjan_C said, they need to do some Vastu to the Factory before bring out bikes in order to succeed.

Mahindra, you guys have done a decent job with scooters. Concentrate your efforts there. Form JVs with Italian and Japanese manufacturers and set up manufacturing units in India for some of their higher-displacement, premium scooter models. This is an untapped market. If you wish to enter the motorcycle market, you should probably concentrate on crusier bikes as there are only a handful of them available, and Bajaj Avenger is perhaps the only affordable one. All the best.

No doubt, Mahindra rules the UV segment. But then there are similar giants in the two wheeler segment too.

To put a fight in the ever competitive two wheeler market, either you need a product that is segment first or boasts of technology that edges the current players.

With neither of the above, IMO, Mahindra is flushing crores of rupees down the drain with the launch of these bikes.

When there are established players talking about dual spark plug technology, 5 speed gearbox and offering these features at a very reasonable price, why would anyone even pay a second look at the Centuro & Pantero siblings?

Success cannot be formulated, certainly not if you think it can be pulled off by adding a 'O' to the already strange and shockingly funny name!

Firstly it is time to wish Mahindra the best of luck in yet another attempt to capture some market share in the fierce motorcycle market. However their latest attempt also seems to be a rejig and rebadging effort of their older model line up and may not cut much ice.

Come to think of it these motorcycles, by looks and build are similar to the previous Bajaj and TVS bikes (aka Caliber, Centra) that is a generation older. They still have a lot of learning to do in terms of designing, build quality and mechanical reliability. Till then they will be also ran in the segment.

Also there is no shortcut to success in the bike segment. The competition is one of the strongest and fiercest right from Hero and Honda (mass market) to Bajaj and Yamaha (higher segment), its cut throat there and blood bath and no half effort will cut ice.

Similar to their effort in the non geared scooter market where they are yet to taste success, there should be a complete revamp with reliable and exciting vehicles on offer. Till then we will see many more reboots time and again.

Mahindra's Jojo err... Mojo was caught by Motoroids while being transported. Hope Mahindra launches at the earliest. The Competition is getting hotter and hotter. With the upcoming KTM Duke 390 and the Pulsar 375 Mahindra will have a tough time in pricing.

Centuro test mules spotted in Pune. The bike looks better than the Pantero. The twin gold pipes under the tank looks cheap.
