Default Proton's "KATHAROS" Power filters with images and sound!!!

To all who were waiting for this.. I received the final production piece of Proton's power filter. Till now, I was using a prototype one. The production piece comes with an intake adapter which is not common in the market. The materials are more tough compared to the K&N. It is oiled with non-surfactant containing refined oil. Surfactant containing oils can damage the sensors in high tech cars.

Most K&N users have the filters fitted directly on the Carb. This is normally used in racing environment where a single filter is not used for more than 2 races. In normal street use, filters are open to dust, moisture and water. Hence exposing the filter is not feasible in Indian road conditions. KATHAROS is fitted in the airbox using an adapter directly to the intake tube. This is a good alternative to the K&N which is imported and is priced high. This is reasonbly priced and much better compared to the shark and HP filters.

Here are some pics:

The special intake adapter is the red piece

Hear the KATHAROS roar here...

It is installed on a HH Ambition. This is universal for all bikes. They will custom make a bigger filter also. Proton is located in Chennai. I have given my feedback on another thread. No difference from that. Must rejet to obtain better power and pickup. Its giving me the same mileage I was getting earlier 54-56kms/litre.

The bike has become smoother due to better airflow. And sounds great too.

Let us keep this thread primarily for review of a brand new product. No marketing information will be available on this thread. Contact details and pricing fronts maybe discussed via PMs and not on the board, as this confronts with Team-BHPs anti-marketing stand.

Thanks.

I dont think it has. I tested the prototype and just received the actual production peice. It seemed pretty normal except for that the bike felt smoother due to higher air intake.

The real performance difference will be felt only if the carb jets are changed to bigger ones. More fuel needs to enter to oxidise with the additional air intake inorder to increase power.
